[25] XT-002 Crit our MT

This is OT and not even paladin specific, so if you feel the need to move this then please do.

We were making some attempts on XT-002 last reset and at one point our warrior MT got crit for 46,000 and obviously died instantly. He has 540 defense exactly. I checked his armory against his gear and it was exactly the same. My initial reaction was that he swapped out a piece of def gear for more avoidance or something, but no, he got crit with 540 defense.

Was this made possible by a boss ability? Freak 1 in a 1,000,000 occurence? Something about warrior mechanics I don't know about?

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this happen.

Strangely enough, we had that happen once. The warrior swears he was above 540 defense.

Tell your tank to unbind sit.

Either that, or tell your tank to repair his or her gear, fix the wardrobe addon they use, or tickle them until they admit they forgot to equip that trinket.

I believe that defense rounds up, so it is possible he had 539.5 to 539.9 defense and got extremely unlucky. I tend to aim for 541 defense to avoid a rounding issue like that.

you need 689 defense or higher.

These observations come up regularly. There's always a reason, I think the popular ones have been covered. I've been guilty of the wardrobe mob problem before.

Hopefully that links directly to the tank and the fight in question. You should be able to view his armory via that link as well. You'll see at the bottom 46,959 critical.

It was the only time he was crit all night (he was MTing all the previous attempts, left after this fight)

I forgot to ask him if he sat down, though between you and me I doubt he would admit it if he did, It does make a lot of sense.

Well there's your problem, he's wearing a tux, what did you expect to happen :p

My guess is that he was under 689 defense rating, but I can't confirm that since he's not in his tanking gear on armory.

He probably forgot to equip something and isn't admitting his mistake. Was something broken? Did he accidentally swap in a piece of gear?

I've seen my axe break midfight on xt002. Replaced hastely with another tank sword but stuff like that does happen sometimes and u can get crit in the meanwhile.

There was an issue with fully broken gear not keeping it's enchants/gems when repaired unless the character relogged. If that wasn't fixed that could have been another possible culprit.
