Now that they have reduced the time you have to kill him by 33%, how are you supposed to reach the timer?
2 minutes to burn down 32 million health on heroic and 8 million on normal mode.

For 10 man, it's 1 tank, 1 healer and 8 dps to burn him, but the dps requirement is hard, but barely doable. Nearly 9k stable dps. With the meager side/upgrades that are in ulduar it might be possible to kill him with some 25 man gear but with just naxx and ulduar 10 man gear? I know theres a few guilds who did it pre-buff tho.

For 25 man, 1 tank, 3-4 healers atleast and that leaves 20-21 dps, who have to burn 32 million health. Thats almost 13k dps each unless i miscalced. Doesnt seem likely. Double so that the really hardcore raiders havent even gotten him after he was buffed

Well you get the buffs from the adds, assuming it's worth taking the time to free them. Still it seems like it will be quite hard.

Ensidia havent have much luck with Hodir 25 hard... I think they even said after the buff, it is not really doable at this gear level until you are decked in T8.5s. Good that the hard modes are actually hard tho and not beaten in first week of release ;p although some are already...

None of the hard modes are really hard, they are all DPS checks.

This is partially true. But for Hodir hard mode specifically, it really is JUST a dps check.

Muru was more than just "zerg the boss ridiculously fast".

That's not to say ALL Ulduar hard modes are just zerg fests.

That's not to say ALL Ulduar hard modes are just zerg fests.

The difference between Hodir easy mode and Hodir hard mode is JUST a dps check, but the boss isn't JUST a dps check, just the hard part is. M'uru wasn't JUST a dps check, but that's what made it hard. The other stuff was harder than Hodir's other stuff, but it wasn't what made it hard.

Some good points. I guess I was really saying that the difference between Hodir hard-mode and regular is just the DPS requirement but as people have since pointed out, that's all it takes to turn a fight from relatively easy to very hard.

Similarly, Ignis' "just burn" strategy is basically just a DPS check: Can you burn him before he gets enough adds up to gib the tank. On 10, this is easier, but on 25 ... I'd be scared to.

Every fight is just a DPS check... can you kill the raid boss before he kills you :p

This isn't strictly true. Your ability to DPS the boss is not always at issue. Attumen the huntsman (or more recently, Gothik) is not a DPS check in any way, because he is infinitely survivable.

We did Council hard mode last week and were only 10 sec off on the timer for this on 10 man.... put some great attempts into hard mode thorim but man he hits like a truck as the fight goes on.

My guild tried this on 25M and 10M last night, the 10M strat was successful. (4 min 2 seconds no joke, our freaking rogue died in slag though and got bresed, we gave him TONS of shit about it)

25M not so much, i lived just fine until about 6 stacks with the boss at 15%, when Pain suppresion wore off i got unlucky and took 2 hits in a row, 1st one was Guardian spirited, and the 2nd came right after with no CD's up and hit me for 55k =[
