I have always been a lurker in the shadows reading these forums and blogs, etc.

But I finally have something to contribute and I would like to have you guys help me refine it to be a good useful resource.

So here is my complete review of all the Paladin Talents in 3.1 and their usefulness for
PVE Healing
PVP Healing
PVE Main Tanking
PVE Off Tanking
PVE DPS
PVP DPS

I clicked on the link reread the first page about 3 times to figure out what all the shiney icons everywhere meant, then went to the 2nd page and realized that every talent actually meant talking about talents that we've had for years and stopped reading.

I'd recommend just focusing on the changes in 3.1 and their implications for prot/ret/holy in pvp and pve.

Thanks for the input.

It is meant to be an all encompassing guide, more for new Paladins or those considering different specks for their secondary speck. You would be surprised the number of people that play paladins that have no clue what the existing talents are good for.

Many other much more talented bloggers have covered the actual differences between now and 3.1.

I will link those in the beginning of the post and refine it.

Eww wowinsider. Not a popular site to link here. We've had to spend way too much time correcting misleading and erroneous protection pally information because of them. Most of the time those articles were written by non prot pallys. At least this one is reasonable, though still somewhat off...

But the fact is that Paladin tanking has improved by leaps and bounds and its biggest weakness -- caster mobs -- has not just been addressed, it's been squished, squiffled, and squimified.
...uhhuh. I guess that's better than saying we suck.

I thought our caster problems have been taken care of since we can silence them now with our Avenging Shield and we can use Hammer of Justice more frequently as well, and if specked, every 20 seconds (though I will not go that way myself)

What remains to be seen is if the Hammer of Justice spell interrupt will actually work on Ulduar and other bosses. I seem to only have it work on older bosses and not any in Northrend. And if the silence effect from Shield of the Templar will work on bosses too.

Ya, I normally shy away from wowinsider pally stuff in general, but some of their other articles are fun... Like the Sunday Morning Comics. :D

Interrupts that are on the GCD are less that optimal at best, and utterly useless at worst.

The AS silence is a "silence" not an interrupt so it won't do anything to bosses.

Regardless, it's usually the rogue or enhancement shaman that you'll have on interrupt duty. Our biggest weakness against casters is that we don't have as many cooldowns as DKs and we don't have an OP 4pc bonus like Warriors.

Which rankings?

I am open to tweaking the rankings if it makes sense.

Did I do ok with the CORE? I know I stuck to pretty much what I saw here for the CORE Prot Main Tank, but for the others, I just did what made sense, but if I missed something, would like to know.

The icons make it really confusing, regardless that you've explained it above. Just use stars.

Stars seemed boring, but I went overboard when I used a different icon for each type of play.

I will work on consolidating it down to i icon, maybe a hammer, since paladins are all about hammers.

It's also helpful to show "unlit" icons so it's more visible that you mean "0 out of of 3" instead of "i forgot to fill this in".
