the hit cap is 8% or around 262 hit rating iirc, but because of the way that ret is currently designed, you will increase your dps more by gearing for straight strength and letting hit/expertise come as they may.

Actually, the OP shows iron spring jumpers as the top to use in a current max dps gear set. It shows Melancholy Sabatons as Best In Slot in a vacuum. I am going to recheck Dawnwalkers, picked them up last night.

Epeen moment: 5 pieces short of my gear list (we did get a Betrayer last week, but I didn't win) and I hit 5300 dps on Patch last night with no pots or flask. Yay me.

Doing the math again with the 2.3 spreadsheet put Dawnwalkers as the #1 boot, so I will add that as an option. For me, the numbers were as follow:

Melancholy: 5868
Iron-Spring: 5874
Dawnwalkers: 5886

I apologize for not catching this earlier. It must have been the leather vs plate clouded my view.

Keep in mind Haste, Expertise and Armor Pen are getting upgraded in 3.1, but so much is changing for ret that it is difficult to tell what we will be top dps pre-Ulduar until they figure out what they want.

First off, there are so many changes, the list will have to be completely redone come 3.1. We know they aren't done yet as well.

The bonus is about a ~18 dps increase in a single target fight.

As a direct comparison, you would lose ~18 dps off Top Set by switching the gloves. This doesn't include the loss on the helm. So....No, certainly not worth it.

Counting the gem plus socket bonus as a total of 20 Str I still have it coming in 4th among plate boots, 15 DPS behind Iron Spring Jumpers.

If you're talking about http://www.wowhead.com/?item=38362 then it's one of the best ret librams in the game right now. I'd definitely use this one over the badge one. I could be wrong but I think it's even better then the one that drops from Noth.

Yep, I <3 mine. 1930 isn't too bad. The Crusader strike one from naxx will become a lot stronger in 3.1, though. CS is going to 137.5% damage, so that 135ish damage is slightly more significant.

Though I heard the pvp libram is becoming 10 seconds which wipes the floor with anything else available.
