STR food is better for both options though the fishfeast is a close second for ret.

I think for ret they are very similar, so just stick to the fish feast.

80AP +46 spell
cf
40Str=40*1(0.25+0.1)=54Str=108 AP

So its 46spell vs 28AP.

The AP is better for single target DPS (maybe) while the spell will probably be better for AoE. (most (all?)) ret attacks have the same AP as SP coefficients, so its just the white damage increase from AP "extra".

Not much in it anyway. While for Prot the extra BV makes Str much better.

Your math is a bit off

Code: Select all
40 STR * 1.15 * 1.1 * 2 AP/STR => 111.2 AP

Additionally Ret has sheath of light
Code: Select all
(111.2 AP - 80 AP) * .3 SP/AP => 9.66 SP

So it's really 31.2 AP versus 36.33 SP

I thought that stat multipliers were additive not multiplicitive now? eg our stam % modifier isn't 1.1*1.06*1.08 its 1+(0.1+0.6+0.8) isn't it?

And yes, Sheath will lower the gap too I forgot about that.

It seems that further testing revealed they were multiplicative and even if they weren't you applied kings twice.

Thanks

(kind of like the tanking gear lists here)

You did miss it - MaxDPS.com. ;)

A lot of people hate on that site because the list can be off when comparing close pieces, etc., but it's great for getting you in the ballpark. Once you are, use Rawr.

Question for the ret players out there. Assuming no 25man gear, is the Titansteel Destroyer worth crafting? Assuming I can't get a Cryptfiend's Bite / Jawbone, are there any significant upgrades in 10mans to the destroyer? From what I can tell its the best ilvl200 simply for its large amount of +hit, but I havent played ret in forever and would like a second opinion on this.

(all i could find were comparisons between the ilvl 213/226 weapons)

Yes, craft it. The only 10 man options are Black Ice, Death's Bite.

I'm keeping with the Colossal Skull-Clad Cleaver for right now... It's serving my purpose until something else comes along that I can afford (ugh negative DKP on your first raid with the guild after months of being off).

Sword of Justice is better for most gear sets, and is a blue from heroics :p

Well there's also Demise and Wrath Spear / Claymore of Ancient Power / Skull-Clad-Cleaver. Although the last 3 arent ideally itemized, Demise isn't too horrid, hence my wondering if it would be better to get that and grab the hit elsewhere, perhaps in the form of a trinket (sphere from nexus comes to mind)

Even then, you're still at the mercy of the RNG to actually get it.

Titansteel Destroyer is the best, easiest to obtain ret weapon short of 25's. It's doubly better if you still need hit rating, which it's loaded with.
Pally's been relegated to AH duties.

RAWR'ing it up as a bear now, with a side of boomkin.

Nobles Deck is the best one to get.

Its going to cost you ~10k gold to buy though.

Thanks, actually I have the best guildmates, and a few of them are working on making the cards for me.
