[Ret-PvE] Ret for a day
Thread title moderated in accordance with sticky guidelines -Baelor
So last night was an off night for us so I took the opportunity to spec ret and run 3 heroics. DAMN! it was fun and I can't wait until 3.1. I was even able to top the DPS meters (around 2200 overall) in 2 of the 3 with a very well geared enhancement shaman tearing stuff up in the third group. All in all, it cost me 300 gold after some enchants, gems, and two respecs but it was well worth it.

I know the feeling, the past couple weeks I've taken to spending days when I'm unlikely to run anything as ret, just for the bloody power of it. Although it can be a bother when you see a good group LF Tank for a heroic or raid, but you don't want to spend the cash to spec and glyph back.

Yeah, esp. since I haven't been ret since Classic when I was around level 45 or so. Huge difference!

Ya, I've been running into this lately too, where a heroic run needs a tank, or I feel like...kinda...sorta...pvp'ing, but don't want to swap specs for just a single run, or just an hour or two of pvp, when I know raid is coming up that night.
As a side note, people glyph for prot? Lately I've just been leaving my ret glyphs in when I go back prot, Judgement works both ways, and I've got more expertise than I need, between racials, gear and talents. Obviously this changes with the next patch, but for now, I typically just don't bother.

I wanna, I wanna ret. I keep using the excuse that I don't have enough gear yet and then I read stuff like the OP and it hits me.

I don't change my Judgement glyph, but I am not expertise soft capped anymore without SoV glyph and RD glyph is still good for a most heroic only geared person.

Most rets glyph Consecration. Most prots despise that glyph.
Yes, you should re-glyph at least one of your majors when swapping back and forth.

I've been Prot since level 10. (Barring times when I was non-specced, following a universal talent point refund, like after a rebalance, etc.)
I figure, I can still keep claiming that once dual spec hits, even if I'm Ret at times, since it's my "second spec."
