Third time i have run heroic VH and first time i have got this boss. I had no idea what to do which unfortunately lead to some wipes and in the end the group healer gave up so we called it. Are there any particular tactics for this boss, cant seem to find anything online that gives a paladin perspective?
thanks

There are actually two different things going on here.
The boss will gain a buff, so when you hit him, you gain a stacking debuff that reduces healing done to you, up to 100%
Different members of the party will occasionally gain a buff that allows them to attack the void sentries that are chain casting shadow bolt volleys.
Keys to the fight:
Don't let the anti-healing debuff stack up on you.
Kill the void sentries when you are shifted.
There's an achievement for not killing the sentries, which may or may not be practical based on your party DPS and HPS.

So you should stop dps while he has the buff that causes you to get the healing debuff?

Yes; DPS has to be smart about it as well. The boss buff lasts for about 10 seconds, if I recall correctly. It can be purged/removed by any of the standard methods.

If you make sure everyone knows to kill the sentries after he does the channeled spell on you you'll probably be fine, but it doesn't hurt to call out who has it.
As for the Shroud of Darkness, if you have a DPS priest or shaman tell them to watch for it and remove it. Otherwise you can probably get away with spamming a few cleanses when he does it, focusing on yourself and the healer.

The sentries seem to be demons. Holy Wrath works on them. ^_~
