How much money can you make soloing old raid bosses?
A nice/easy way to make cash as a prot pally...much more fun than dailies and probably more efficient as well.
AQ20 - ~325g x 2 per week = (650g per week)
Kurinaxx - ~40g drop/plus 2 books 20g
Rajaxx - ~40g drop/plus 2 books 20g
Moam - ~60g drop/plus 2 books 20g
Ossirian - ~80g drop/plus 2 books 20g
Ayanamiss - not soloable
Buru - not soloable due to unsoloable trash nearby
ZG - 280g x 2 per week = (560g per week) (much more if you get the tome)
High Priest Venoxis 40g + drops
High Priestess Jeklik not easily soloable (killed her this week, not easy)
High Priestess Mar'li 40g + drops
High Priest Thekal 40g + drops
High Priestess Arlokk 40g + drops
Hakkar the Soulflayer not easily soloable (I can't beat the enrage, can you?)
Bloodlord Mandokir & Ohgan 40g + drops
Gahz'ranka no gold, but Polymorph Turtle Tome can fetch 2k if it drops
Jin'do the Hexxer 40g + drops
Onyxia - 160g (average) + drops = 180g x 2 per week = 360g per week
Molten Core - ~175g per week
Lucifron - 40g+drops (have not done it, can be done with good shadow resist)
Shazzrah - 60g+drops
Sulfuron - 40g+drops
Gehennas drops gold as well, but is very very difficult to solo.
Domo cannot be soloed unless you bring friends in with water.
Magmadar - no gold
Golemagg - no gold
Elemental bosses do not drop gold (garr, baron geddon, etc)
EDIT - Rag apparently drops about 100g, but I have not soloed him yet (takes 2.5 hours apparently)
GRAND TOTAL = ~1750g per week (I rounded up a little to count for vendoring drops)
Once again, this can be much higher if you get the poly tome from ZG, its possible to make up to 4k gold per week with only a few hours of time invested. Your mileage will vary depending on which bosses you can solo, I can solo all the ones listed unless otherwise noted.
Veteran AH tycoons make much more of course but this old content is fun to do still.

It seems that their gold is only worth about 20g a piece. If you were an enchanter deing the epics could make it worthwhile in the future.Arca wrote:dont forget to mention kara bosses.

I'm buying voids at 5 gold ATM.

I recall them dropping a lot more than that. I'm thinking 50-70g per boss, not counting the epics.

This is, I think, the real issue. If you are doing dailies for money purposes, you might be better off just farming. While the raw money gained from these bosses is a large chunk at once (at least for 40-man bosses), the time it takes to beat them is something tobalance. Plus, you can only do it once or twice per week. That said, Onyxia's an excellent time/reward ratio. It takes me 10 minutes if I duo it (~90g), and ~20 to 30 if I solo it (~180g). Then, I can travel elsewhere (e.g., ZG) and do the same.
The benefit of this is, it's MUCH more fun, at least for me. Onyxia is a cakewalk, and I often skip her as I've got guild stuff to do. I'm currently still learning the ZG bosses. I can do the panther boss in probably 15 minutes, Mar'li in probably similar time (she's very easy!), and Mandokir takes about 15-20 minutes for me, I think. (I've not really mastered him yet.) All in all, those three bosses seem to be about similar money yield (per time) as doing dailies would be. I dislike dailies, suck at farming, and enjoy giving spankies to trolls.
I currently waste far too much time trying to beat Hakkar and the tiger boss. I've been trying for achievements (or personal feats), rather than for money.
If I were trying to treat it as farming, I'd probably do:
Get someone's alt as a raid-mate
Dalaran -> Theramore -> Mudsprocket
Kill Onyxia
Mudsprocket -> Ratchet -> Booty Bay
Kill ZG bosses (Spider, Bloodlord, Mandokir, and maybe Jin'do? I'll try him.)
I'll budget 20 minutes for Onyxia, 15 mins for travel, and 15 minutes for each of those troll bosses (except Jindo, who I haven't fought), which yields ~300g in about 1.5 hours. That seems to be faster than I can farm saronite, at least.
Then, I can in theory go to MC, kill bosses (once I actually master those fights and have gear for them). I wonder what the gold/hour is of doing Outland dungeons ....

No clue but high enchants will always be popular with twinks.fuzzygeek wrote:Wherefore? Are they adding a similar xmute such as nexus transformation?Majiben wrote:Thus the in the future portion.

The Answer: Doesn't matter. I have a hell of a lot more fun making the gold i do per week from old world raids than I do completing daily quests. If i can put a little change in my pocket doing things that are actually fun/challenging/interesting over yet again mindlessly grinding for something in this game, I choose the former.

when I was happily posting the boss loot I had about 5 guild mates bugging me to take them with me, if I happen to do AQ20 again.
I bet there are some players out there, who will pay quite an amount to get their achievements or some special loots (mounts, quest items, collections, whatever).

I have been going through some old content just cos it’s fun
H Ramps, H shattered Halls (Ok cash – only really do for greens) H shattered halls = EASIER than normal, scatter shot is a cow.
AQ20 great cash and I take my mates there for enchanting recipes and drops (working on a 60 twink paladin)
I downed moam last night, happy if that's as far as I get.
(I must say - I'm happy when the bosses here enrage - gogo mana return lol)
AQ40 I have blue and yellow mounts so far
Onyxia (same thing, take a lowbie – the gear is still cool for a few levels)
ZG – wow – I had no idea how easy this was at 80, I skip bat boss and tiger but the others are caek. Hakkar enraged at 20-30% on my first try and I haven't tried again cos... meh
