2-man old raid contents at lvl80?

Postby Wakeman » Tue Oct 28, 2008 1:03 am

I played quite casually all along and missed a lot of old raid contents. I'm planning to revisit some of the old raids like MC, BWL and AQ. Is it possible to 2-man any of these? Or 3-man?

Also, what will be the best combination?
I have DK tank in mind as they are supposed to deal good damage when tanking. Healadin sounds good as the healer for efficient single target healing and high armor.

You can for sure 2 men molten core and zg, well, you can do it now already.

2 manning BWL doesn't look doable for me, you'd need a retarded amount of DPS to get Vael down in time.

Not unless you can burn his hp down in like. .hmm.. 30 seconds for the first guy to die?

How much HP does Vael has when you start the fight? About 1million?

So to kill him in 30 seconds, you'd need 33k raid-dps.

With some guesstimate math.. you do 4k dps at 80 with maxmana/rage...
That means you need to have 250 seconds of damage at the boss to kill him.

1 mana user dies at 30 seconds
2nd mana user at 45.
maintank at 60-63 seconds.

So.. 250/60 gives about 4 dps needed.

ic. BWL is difficult. How about AQ?

What do you think is the ideal 2-man combination?

Main restriction on MC is having enough people to put the =edit= RUNES! out.

BWL isn't difficult, it just has particular boss mechanics at the second boss that go "someone dies on this timer. Deal with it"

Even at 70, you need Ony cloaks or the drakes will kill you.

AQ-20 or 40....

Ideal 2-man is tank+heal... both of who can DPS. Or DPS that can tank and DPS that can heal (ret/elemental)

AQ40 first boss is kinda annoying mostly with the mindcontrol, too.

I don't think AQ40 is doable with 2 ppl, the twins and c'thun are not build for 2 persons :)

Did it yesterday with about 20 ppl and there are still a lot of ppl dying at c'thuns red beam (which is a bit buggy and also comes out of the back)

At the twins you probably can't dps them down as they heal each other if they are in range. Maybe you can try them with 3 ppl (Heal + Warlock tank + Protpally)

Twins port, you need a tank of each flavour at both sides. Well, prot pally can tank both twins (one at a time).

Viscidus needs huge numbers of frost attacks to freeze or he won't die.

C'thun needs 5-10 just for logistics.

While it might be possible to do MC/BWL/AQ-40 with 3-5 people, just get 15-20, it will go so much faster.

There's definitely content you'll be able to do solo or in a pair, though... there already is. These are all just exceptions. I would still recommend tank, healer & dps for most things, though, just to make it a little faster.

Did a 2-man Attumen this weekend. It was fun.

There is an easy tactic where you can do twins with 3 ppl.

The caster is tanked by the WL who puts dots on the mob.
The melee is tanked by the Pally who puts on SoC on the mob (also a dot).

when they port they run to the person who has dot's on it. Quite simple. The only thing to avoid (at least for me) is consceration as it could generate more thread than the warlocks dots (maybe because of 4 pc bonus t6).

I don't see much problem with AQ40 until you hit the twin emperors. They need to be apart from each other or they heal. That's one of the reason the Twins will ALWAYS win on any raid boss vs fight. The fact that you need to seperate them to win.

the first boss in aq40 has a nasty habit of teleporting around the temple steps to different plateaus, and if his aggro target isnt in melee range, he throws out earthshocks for 2k/sec. not too bad, except when the boss spawns 2 duplicates, who have much less hp, but earthshock just the same if not in melee range. essentially, doable if youre lucky with teleports, not if your healer cant put out a potential 6k hps, not including if they split to different platforms, and 2 are earthshocking while you try to tank one.

huhu might also be problematic with the stacking dot, and the enraged poison bolt volley.

Due to mechanics:

MC:
Takes 8 people with Quintessence, or 8 hours. The fights themselves are probably all soloable by a 3.0.2 prot paladin.

BWL:
Second boss takes 10+, first might be doable with 3~5.
4th will kill you if you don't have an ony cloak.

AQ40:
First boss takes 10+ with 2+ healers or really really good luck.

The 20'mans are largely soloable, with some mechanics exceptions.
