Upcoming boss armor changes

I didn't see this in its own topic yet and think it deserves one.

Bosses are gaining a 10% armor increase. I don't see it affecting Tankadins though, since our abilities ignore armor for the most part.

Still, if we're so far ahead on threat compared to the other tanks as it is and with this reducing their threat further, I wonder if there's a chance that it'll lead to unintended consequences.

Possibly, but our threat is so easy to tweak with simple adjustments to RF.

On a more serious note, this is not just a threat increase (relatively speaking) but also a dps increase (again, relatively speaking). 10% reduction is a fairly sizable amount even if 50% of a tank's dps is white based.

Last I checked our threat isn't far ahead of other tanks when JoL is taken out of the equation, which we have every reason to expect.

Also, 10% armor increase is not a 10% damage reduction...

They're moving this way as they want to gimp the PvE side of hunters, withouth touching the actual PvP balance. Has been mentioned as well that, since the melee will be somehow gimped too, they will proceed to give them something and adjust the classes.
I would like to remember that they have also remove the windfury effect from ranged weapons, so hunters have been nerfed there too, while you keep such advantage.

This is a Nerf to:

Off-Warriors (Bleed is like 10%? Rest is reduced by armor?)
Rogues (Bleed + Poison is like 20% Res is reduced by armor)
Hunters (Stings + Arcane depending on Rotation.. but I say at least 80% of the damage is physical)

Lesser to:

Ret Paladin (Seal Procs, Judgement, Cons, Exorzism, depends, say 30-35% non Physical)
Enhance Shami (Shocks, that Lava Thing lets say 30-35% non Physical)

Tanks:

Warrior should also be 90% physical but has +threat, so lesser then dps
Feral should be 80% physical but has +threat, so lesser then dps

Does not hit:

Paladin. Our white threat is about 10%, rest is Holy.

So: It IS a buff for prot paladins!

What's gotten my attention is that instead of nerfing JoL, i see this posted

Judgement of Light now grants attacks and spells made against the judged enemy a chance of healing the attacker. (Old - Didn't include spells)


That'd mean even MORE threat. Next to us being hit less to the armor increase (due to holy damage obviously).

It's not a buff, our threat has gone down by a tine margin while caster dps is unchanged. Technically it's a tiny tiiiiny nerf.

Depends all who you compare to... I'm more tending to compare our performance with those of warriors and bears. And then... We just got a relative buff...

I don't know about your ranged DPS'ers (excl hunters) but mine do around the same DPS as I do... They need a buff!!!!

Which still means it's in our advantage as it impacts our direct 'competitors' more.

Which still means we'll get worse threat gen for our casters.

Really, the armor buff is really just intended to reduce physical dps. There's no point in looking at it as a pally buff, because it's a nerf. One that prot doesn't give much of a damn, but still a nerf.


Also, maybe they just got so much more armor pen in the gear that stuffl ike executioner procs will be wasted without the extra armor.

And Faeth, wtf man? Why do others have to be competitors?
