im tanking the trash tonight for the first time and was reading up about the fights in wowwiki and was wondering about the abominations stun. does having a high avoidance set help avoid some of the stuns as apose to wearing a high BR+BV set? whats the best course of action when gearing for these pulls?

High EH and many Free Action Potions.

Yes, avoidance protects you against stuns, they can be dodged and parried and missed to completely escape being knocked down.
Free Action potions are handy too. And remember to stun the abomination that's beating on you. It's 6 seconds less being risked a knockdown.

I tank hyjal on my alt in badge/t4 gear for the most part when theres no one else on. Just make sure healers aren't dumb and your other tanks know to take the aboms off of you. I ended up dying once last night going to Azgalor because the MT died and I had 3 Aboms+Crypt Fiends and Ghouls beating on me.
