Sacred Shield...

I just had an epiphany. That sounds like a pretty damn nice ability to stick into a more defensive/mitigation-oriented rotation. Thoughts?

It costs a % of base mana and I don't know what %. If it wasn't too high I'd definitely cast it every 30 secs.

It seems to be a flat 35 mana cost.

But then, Judgement of Wis/Light/Justice all seem to be free with a 100 yard range, so take that for what it's worth...

From what I've seen on Wowhead, it has a fixed cost of 35 mana (though this may change).
Presumably it scales with spell power (like PW:S), so if you have a holydin in the group/raid you'll want them casting this on you.

I saw the 35 and assumed that this data had been gathered from a trainer using a level one character. Nothing at 70 costs 35 mana. I'd be surprised if anything at 80 did.

Each time the target takes damage they gain a Sacred Shield, absorbing 500 damage. They cannot gain this effect more than once every 6 seconds.

usually it's me that is late with my posts, I have a habit of always choosing "preview"...

but ofc, I'd rather take some healing than a pre-emptive shield...I want my mana back!

I'm sure it will be used on hard hitting bosses or in situations where you take a ton of burst damage!

Yeah but the point is that there might *not* be some holy pally around to spam it on you. Or they might stack, like HoTs. Or...

I just thought it was a pretty damn nice mitigation ability we get that might get overlooked as a holy toy, so might as well bring it up.

EDIT: Yeah, proper healing >> shields. But for progression tanking where we might be getting seriously pummeled, all mitigation helps.

true, it is quite a nice mitigation tool for a very very low mana cost, and if the need for it to be used comes, I wont hesitate to use it, but I see it more like an emergency/situational spell for those extra hard-hitters or when the priests are moving from something, dancing in naxx or if a burst is inc or something like that, I probably won't be keeping it on me 100%

...but, then again, it isn't known until lvl 80 and the raids...
