Protection talent builds: now and then

Postby Taeron » Fri Jul 18, 2008 7:05 am

I am still toying with the new talents. I need to catch up on a lot of reading you have done in the general forum, but I decided to ask this now, so I have some ideas to lean on. (I hope it isn't wrong that I posted in this forum).

Here are the questions:

1) How will you spec once the talents are introduced and you are still level 70 and raiding?

2) How will you spec once expansion hits and you will do leveling along with dungeons?

3) What do you think will be a working raiding build at level 80?

Thank you for these, I look forward to your suggestions. Let's start playing with our new toys.

P.S.

A interesting question.

I'm going for full prot, i want the active hit while leveling, can't rly wish to make 10 more levels by just seal swings.

I'll also be farming dungeons everytime, i'm quite known on the server so if i write /2 LFG it takes 2-3 seconds to get a invite, even more due to lack of tanks.

I'm levelling Prot as well. I was intending to do so before the changes, but now I've seen them, I'm definately doing it. Too many new toys and tricks I'm going to have to learn to use.

Yeah i'm gonna do same tbh.
As for spec probably

Imho if you've seen our new spells we arn't gonna be having much time to judge so taking that out and get higher damage for actual seals makes sense tbh, and of course the introduction of death knights tanking spell damage bosses/mobs removes the need for spell warding

Lv 70 raiding spec if talents are released early
IF crushings are still in effect:

IF crushings are no longer in effect

Leveling spec
http://www.mmo-champion.com/talent/?pal ... 0000000000
(*the main focus is picking up what's needed in ret to solo effectively. I'm used to soloing on the daily isle and by far my biggest problem is mana. I shoot through is REALLY fast. I expect ret to be refunding me 500-800 mana per judgement) I did my best to pick up either
aoe dmg reduction
aoe dmg
dmg
mana refund talents

Alt lvling spec I might do:
http://www.mmo-champion.com/talent/?pal ... 2150112000
Instead of worrying about mana refunds...I'll just hold consecrate till a 50% off buff hits.

I plan to continue into ret till 73 and finish up vengeance @ lv73, from there on more into prot.

Endgame
Something like this...VERY likely to play around with it more:

That's because the first talent calculator that came out with it, didn't have that requirement. Just that it required a melee weapon.
