The fact it doesn't require the runed eternium rod makes me wonder if it's from some 5 men or world drop rather than from raids.

Viable or not.
The enchant came out at the same time as the Boss was put into the game files along with all the loot from the boss. The boss and all the gear have a "cold-based" theme to them.

Not sure if I saw a Blue post that specifically stated the enchant would come from him and while blizzard doesn't always do the logically thing, it would make sense that Deathfrost comes from that boss.

Ok, so we don't do Hyjal all that often anymore, but we went from 5 in one week to 1 in 5 months.

I've seen it drop twice in the same wave

on our first night we had 17 of the chestgaurds and no hammers....
since then we've had2 hammers and 1 shadow damage back in 6 runs XD

We got none for 3 weeks and I was starting to think the drop-rate had been nerfed etc.

Then it dropped and I rejoiced. It then dropped 4 more times on the same night .
