So I was discussing with our warrior MT about the viability to tank this as a paladin and he's worried about my threat. He actually claims to be doing 1700-1900tps on this boss but I generally don't know how to calculate this from wws.

I don't see him doing any more special damage due to vulnerability then his attacks on the archimonde kill before it. He also only has 6 applies of TC so I wonder what makes him say I'd have so much of a threat problem on this boss.

He's got like 500-1k more hp atm due to being lucky with tank drops but he generally only gears for hp where as I try to balance a bit. My general melee misrate on bosses is actually lower then his...

To me it's just another showcase of my MT that needs an excuse to make him not sit out a raid once in a while like everyone else in our queue system.

With what I can conclude from the few posts made about this boss it that there's no real difference between a pally and a war tank on this except that he does more debuffs then I do. I only got the imp jotc :)

aye I know he's undead. I know it's useless to have me tank when he's around cause he can't dispel, Hybrid FTW!, but it's more about general concern that the raid needs to have 1 warrior MT around every raid while they actually make me sit out now and then while the only fight that's really not doable is the ros p2.

Hmm? No problem with that, we use 1/1/1 (feral/protpally/prot war).


War does Najentus with me healing and the feral DPSing.

I do sup with both OTing.
We all do Akama (war adds that gather in the middle, me'n'bare on sides).
Teron = My house, War goes debuff/nightfall duty.
Bloodboil = My house, the War and Druid are there just incase (bewildering), but I pretty much solo tank this boss -.-, and we've killed the last 25% of the boss with only me up as a tank (DPS dying when I got bewildered).
RoS = I bring huge benefit for P1 and P3 - War handles P2 and we all take turns in rotation.
Mother = Bare for the most part though me'n'the war OT and either of us can tank her.
Council = War -> Pally Bare -> Priest Me -> Rogue and Mage -> Mage.
Illidan = Me/Warlock for normal stuffs and War/Dr00d for P2.

Just reason it out along those lines as long as you have the gear for it.

I MT Teron every week (except once, because i wanted to see if the constructs mini-game is hard -flawless kills on first try-) and i never had any trouble with threat. Use ironshields if your armor or avoidance is low, otherwise just judge crusader, spam all abilities, use trinkets....

and i highly doubt your MT can outthreat you. It's usually the contrary, warriors in my guild threat cap our dpsers very often, unless they have a windfury totem available. The one and only time a warrior tanked Teron, i got complaints from dpsers about how they had to hold back.

TPS output ranking in my guild :

1-Paladin (tank of choice for dps race fight : teron, kaz, ros phase 3...)
2-Druid (very close, in some cases better than paladin)
3-Warrior (need WF to put out good threat, without it, well...)

I've tanked kaz'rogal twice, gibbed once and takedown the next time but I get very close to ooming on him actually that I tend to keep up jow for the ranged guys if the warrior MT is around.

Anyway we pretty much skipped teron tonight in favor of attempting ros. I tanked 3 or 4 fixates in p1, pretty much did jol on boss for p2 and haven't seen p3 yet since we people interrupted the deaded instead of getting it spellreflected :)

Just gonna see if they actually let my tank teron once to see the difference between me and the warrior tank.

Ah, he's one of those 'the highest numbers I ever get on Omen is my tps' tanks, I which case I do 16000 tps on gorefiend, cool.

Our warrior MT claims to have done average of 1350 TPS on Teron Gorefiend, something I have been unable to match without being to squishy. Yet I do not think anyone is holding back when I tank him.

Arrighty, here goes nothing. This is my first time trying this, so if there are errors in the calculations I apologize. Using the values listed at http://www.tankspot.com/forums/tankspot ... guide.html for reference.
Threat from damage:
Heroic Strike: 127 hits, 59859 damage = 220 * 127 + 59859 = 87799
Shield Slam: 27 hits, 25930 damage = 27 * 307 + 25930 = 34219
Devastate: 63 hits, 20377 damage = 58 * 176 + 2235 + 20377 = 32820
Revenge: 36 hits, 14365 damage = 36 * 201 + 14365 = 21606
Melee: 36 hits, 8819 damage = 8819
BoSanc: 28 hits, 1212 damage = 1212
Vengeance proc: 7 hits, 709 damage = 709
Thunder Clap: 6 hits, 528 damage = 528 * 1.75 = 924
--Subtotal: 188,108

Threat from healing:
PoM: 23907 administered, 14% overheal = 23907 * .5 * .86 = 10280
Lifebloom: 20837 administered, 75% overheal = 20837 * .5 * .25 = 2605
Earth Shield: 7768 administered, 10% overheal = 7768 * .5 * .9 = 3496
--Subtotal: 16,381

Threat from abnormal rage generation:
Bloodrage: 107 = 107 * 5 = 535
Unbridled Wrath: 61 = 61 * 5 = 305
Shield Specialization: 34 = 34 * 5 = 170
--Subtotal: 1010

Combined subtotals: 205,499
Total Threat: 205,499 * 1.495 = 307,221

Fight time: 5'00" even
Threat per second: 307,221 / 300 = 1024 TPS
Note that there are four hunters in this raid and Cheloo is shown to gain Misdirection three times. I did not add that value into the calculation because I don't know how much threat you guys got out of each misdirect. Looks like your hunters average about 850 damage a shot with a 1361 aimed shot listed. Assuming no crits: (1361 * 3 + 850 * 6 = 9183 ) * 1.495 / 300 = 45.8 estimated additional TPS from the hunters. That number is really shaky since I can't find the exact shots that would have been MD'd. It puts the guy up to 1070 TPS


1k-1.1k TPS is not a shabby number by any means, but it's hardly the 1700+ spikes that DO come up on crit chains, during misdirect, right as PoM pulses. Like I said, this is the first time I've tried that... and it's kinda a pain in the ass for warriors, so it's probably the last. ;)

1-1.1k TPS sounds like a reasonable figure. I pull 1.1k tps on Gorefiend, which is enough that my DPS doesn't have to hold back. We're not a BT farming guild though, so I don't expect that number to cut it as our DPS gets more upgrade.

Aye. I used to feel like there was no way the damage would ever catch up with my threat on that fight... and now hunters need to make sure they feign before running off for ghosts, because if they don't moving into melee range pulls threat.

Though I will say that if you pick through the data in a WWS, you can find a lot of little things that look wrong. I don't want to nitpick though, because I'm sure mine don't look any better if I start digging, heh.

aye stuff could be wrong but generally not a difference of 600-800 tps I think.
