Prince's Trash ability

Ok, yesterday night prince got me at 45/22300 hp.
recount was showing something like that:

then it's all normal swings. question is that.. it's a bug or effectively the prince can proc Trash on Trash swings?
or.. theres something i can do (except pray) to avoid that? was a close one

Thrash: to swing about wildly

Regarding the actual question though, in my experience it's completely random. Some of my fights Prince has only used it a couple times, other times it feels as though he never stops. Just pray and keep mashing your holy shield button. Unless lag is getting in there, there's really not much of an excuse for paladins to be taking crushes from Prince.
