Righteous Defense on NPCs.

Postby onacouch » Wed Mar 26, 2008 1:50 pm

Anyone post a macro yet that will taunt mobs off of un-buffable NPCs while having the hostile target targeted?

/cast [help][target=targettarget] Righteous Defense; Righteous Defense

According to Lore, target=targettarget should work.

I tried taunting off NPC's in MH last night, my old macro didnt work so I tried using the spell with clicking, worked sometimes but unreliable at best. :(

Had problem tanking Kalecgos demon yesterday, the normal macro didn't work, even clicking on the NPC didn't work most of the time, really weird, the only macro that actually worked for me was this:

/target Kalecgos
/cast Righteous Defense
/targetlasttarget

And thats not very flexible.

I do not think the [help] thingy works for NPCs.

it never did, which is why I questioned the existence of "noharm".
"/cast [target=targettarget]" should work if he's hitting Kal tho, no filtering.

did some testing

theres apperantly no need for any macro at all oO
just used the spell from the spellbook..
npc taunt, friendly target taunt, hostile target taunt - all worked

summary:

- you will taunt an enemy by just casting taunt on it (exept: enemy has aggro on you or no aggro at all - ooc
just nothing will happen if you do so)
-you will taunt enemys that attack friendly targets by ether taunting the enemy or the friendly target
(taunting a friendly target that has no targetstarget also works as long as that player
is targeted by any hostile)

works like a charm.. with one exception: using taunt on a friendly target that has no aggro
does trigger taunt cooldown for nothing
in every other scenario using normal spellbook taunt seems to do right what you want it to

Oh? That works? I'm surprised.

Wait... did they add our macro functionality into the spell? Can we get confirmation on this?

We have like a million zillion posts on it on these forums already. How much confirmation are you looking for? :)

I am able to taunt mobs off of friendly players by targeting a mob that has a friendly player targeted and /cast righteous defense

The same cannot be said for mobs that have NPCs targeted.

It depends on the NPC. I was able to do it when the NPC targetted was buffable (the skettis prisoner for example), but had to manually target NPC's that were not buffable (the MT. Hyjal ones for example)

You don't need a macro anymore.

BTW.

Unbuffable NPCs such as the ones in Hyjal and Kalecgos are the only NPCs I would want to taunt off of, amazingly, Righteous Defense doesn't work as well on them.

Yes but that is different from

The same cannot be said for mobs that have NPCs targeted

I was clarifying to avoid having someone walk away thinking it doesn't work smartly with any NPC's, when in fact it does on some.
