I mostly use the mouse and modifiers.
Otherwise it would be "2" wich I can reach with 3 fingers (whichever one is free at the moment).

Re: Out of curiosity: What's your nukie spammy button?
The number buttons are less convenient to reach, so they're mostly utility for me.
My spammy button really depends on the ability. For abilities with cast times, they're often some key combination, because you won't cast them while moving. Example: on my warlock, Shadowbolt is Shift+S, Haunt is Shift+Mouse5 and UA is Shift+Mouse4, because you can't use any of them while moving. On the other hand, Corruption is Mouse5 and CoA is Mouse4, since those are instant-cast.
Interestingly I have a completely different and marginally illogical setup on my moonkin (S+M4 for Starfire, M4 for Wrath, M5 for Moonfire, S+M5 for IS). If I were trying to be consistent, I'd set those up slightly differently (probably giving up the mouse buttons in favor of keys, like Shift+W for Wrath and Shift+S for Starfire, leaving M4 and M5 for IS and Moonfire respectively.
Since I don't use any spammable abilities on Theck, the setup is purely for convenience in keeping my rotation. M4 is ShoR, M5 is HotR, S+M4 is Holy Shield, Consecrate is [ (bound through Mouse7). Interestingly, Judgment is 2, as a hold-over from Classic. S+M5 is a Judge-focus macro though.
If I had an instant-cast spammable spell, like Devastate on my warrior, it would go on M4 or M5. Shield Slam is M4, Revenge is S+M5, queuing HS is S+M4, Tclap is [, and so on.

Hehe, I could never give up shift-W. How else would I auto-run?
The main reason I don't bind offensive stuff to mouse-buttons is because I solely rely on clique for healing. I'd run out of buttons in a second if I tried to support more than one role with the mouse.

I used to play a paladin.

4 is my button that I fear for its life. It is the Heroic Strike button for my warrior.

I am gobsmacked. This is such an incredibly obvious and clean solution I can't believe I've not seen it some time in the past 6 years.

I'm a clicker, so guess which is my spammy button. That's right, left-click! On average, I destroy 2 mice per year
