Crit / Haste build with battle healer?

Postby Drecca » Thu Dec 27, 2012 9:35 pm

Crazy idea, but assuming you're hit capped and hard expertise capped.

What about getting gear with crit/haste on it at that point? Since our battle healer heals are based on damage done, would increasing our crit chance (and adding more haste, as always) not be such a crazy idea? Dodge is on a pretty bad DR curve, and we still get parry by strength conversion.

Only issue I see with this is not going mastery/haste, but most haste protadins ignore mastery anyway.

Battle healer doesn't heal you though, just nearby allies. Mastery, dodge, or parry are still going to be better for personal survivability than crit would be.

When it doesn't try to heal a totem that is immune to the heal...

Heh ya, I should have clarified this was just a test build, see if we can have a healer dps a bit more on bosses, while still in a healing spec.

I'm not sure on what to expect, but with a higher crit build, it might be possible to do. Of course, it's a trade off with personal survivability, and I wouldn't do this on cutting edge content (maybe, who knows!)

Is there a way to sim what kind of healing output a crit/haste build, with hit cap and hard exp cap factored in would do? Say in 496+ ilvl gear.

I guess you would run a normal damage done sim, and take the damage of CS, HotR, melee swing and ShoR and find out what 30% of that damage is, and then you have Battle Healer healing.

Instead of trying to heal a little more so the healer can DPS a little more, wouldn't it be much more efficient to try and DPS a little more instead? It depends a bit on the class, but generally, the DPS of a healer is quite piss poor, and us tanks do a better job of squeezing out a little more DPS.

It is more about healing so that the healer needs to heal less, and can hold their mana for when it is really needed. You can easily do 10 million healing in a boss fight, we're not talking about negligible amounts of healing done here.

That doesnt really make much sense since a heavy hps build (with battle healer) would be pretty much exactly a heavy dps build.
So you are in fact pushing both of them at the same time.
The real penalty comes with own survivability, thats where critt will become pretty crap, but Haste WILL always be one of the best stats.
Aka, if you wanna heal the raid, stack haste, that will be the most efficient in almost every way.

Also the most consistent (crit means you heal double the amount randomly, haste means you heal more rapidly)
Main Characters:
Nooska, Blood Elf BM/SV Hunter on Argent Dawn (EU)
Morosin, Bloody freezing orc death knight on Argent Dawn (EU)
Niisca, Shady forsaken "priest" on Argent Dawn (EU)
