Mastery is the quickest way to reach block cap so you'll likely need to reforge into that with your current stats.

hey,

let me guess, you're in full 277 / 284 ? And you're wondering why your stats are nearly perfect? ^^ Don't think you can max out all 3 with early cata raid epics... aaand can you please link the gear you're using?

Bye, RedAces.

Yes, I'm in pretty much full 277 gear at this point. I'm looking forward to having "bad gear" (comparatively) again at the start of cata because it should make gearing choices more interesting. Anyways:

All 30 stam gems except guardian's dreadstone in helm and 3 51 stam JC gems.

277 Broken Ram Skull Helm, dodge->mastery (stamina / dodge enchant)
277 Bile Encrusted Medallion, dodge->expertise
277 Boneguard Commander's Pauldrons, dodge->mastery (stamina / dodge enchant)
277 Royal Crimson Cloak, dodge->mastery (armor enchant)
277 Sanctified Lightsworn Chestguard, parry->expertise (275 hp enchant)
277 Bracers of Dark Reckoning, dodge->mastery (40 stamina)
277 Taldaram's Plated Fists, dodge->mastery (18 stamina)
251 Etched Dragonbone Girdle, crit->mastery (lol)
277 Legguards of Lost Hope, dodge->mastery (stamina / agility)
277 Grinning Skull Greatboots, dodge->mastery (tuskarr's)
277 Seal of Many Mouths, crit->mastery (30 stamina)
277 Juggernaut Band, dodge->mastery (30 stamina)
277 Sindragosa's Flawless Fang
264 Corroded Skeleton Key
277 Bloodvenom Blade, hit->expertise (blood draining)
277 Icecrown Glacial Wall, dodge->expertise (18 stamina)
264 Libram of the Eternal Tower, dodge->mastery

246 hit rating (exactly 8%)
291 expertise rating + 40 from food = 331, or 43 expertise skill, +3 (human with sword) +10 (SoT glyph) = 56 expertise (exactly hardcapped)
~102.7% dodge+block+parry+miss raidbuffed
58256 unbuffed hp
27777 unbuffed armor

I'm missing a few pieces (most notably the 277 belt from Festergut) that could be used to improve the set.

Dodge, expertise, and a big number to turn into mastery. Why not? It's basically trading the 100 Str a prototypical tanking ring would have and turning it into a crit, a stat that can be reforged into mastery.

Hi Guys

I been reading about block cap etc and I need some help, i dont know if my toon is bugged or what, but the block rating is extremely low!

without fighting my stats are:
Dodge 21.90%
Parry 21.94%
Block 22.44%

when I fight and holy shield is up i get a 37.44% in Block.
when i hit the marco for
'/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Need 102.4 combat table coverage. Currently at: "..string.format("%.2f", GetDodgeChance()+GetBlockChance()+GetParryChance()+5))'

I get 'Need 102.4 combat table coverage. Currently at: 86.28'

My toon is currently ICC10 HC geard with two 245 pieces, bracers and a trinket.

Am i doing something wrong? or is my toon fine? im currently on LK heroic and i need to be block capped as he hits very hard.
So i really need some help as im lost =[

Many thanks

Did you 1) train mastery, and 2) reforge items into mastery?

It sounds like you're missing something here.

To get to block cap, reforge your gear for Mastery (and make sure you've trained it!). Block% at ~22 looks like you haven't reforged anything, which is why your coverage is only 86.28%.

One note about the 87.4% mentioned in the OP - that is out of combat, i.e. with no Holy Shield buff. If you have Holy Shield active, you need to hit 102.4%.

Be sure to include a % stat buff such as Kings, and an agi/str buff such as Horn of Winter, as you will (probably) have those in raids and they add a few % avoidance each.

Maybe my toon is bugged?

Because i have learnt mastery, i changed my parry on my gloves into some mastery and its barely made and difference on my block it, 33 mastery rating gave 1.44%
I tested with Horn of Winter and Blessing of Kings and i got:
Dodge 23.71%
Parry 22.71%
Block 22.44%
this is with Holy shield and not fighting.
as said before this is it without BoK, Horn of winter and not fighting.
Dodge 21.90%
Parry 21.94%
Block 22.44%

The only thing i can think of is a bug or something broke =/ cant think for like of me why its so low.
Any thoughts?

Reforge more items. I think I'm wearing two pieces of gear that haven't been reforged.

Do we still get a 5% miss chance? I'm assuming that is the reason for the '5' magic number in the macro. 21.90% + 21.94% + 37.44% = 81.28% so other than that I don't really see anything wrong (aside from perhaps being able to forge away other things for mastery).

One thing I did was to forge away, on any given piece, whichever had more ratings (dodge or parry), despite my dodge being higher. I figure I gain more in mastery than I lose to the slightly worse diminishing returns.

You will need to reforge EVERY PIECE OF GEAR YOU HAVE to drop dodge & parry for mastery, not just one or two pieces. You may also have to gem for dodge/stam and parry/stam in appropriate colored sockets. Even then, if you are in predominantly ICC-10 gear (iLvl251/264), you may not have enough item budget to reach the "cap".

The people here who are easily block-capping themselves are packing a lot of 25-man (iLvl264/277) gear.

For example, according to blizz my avg ilvl is 273 - but I have a lot of bonus armor pieces and raid buffed I'm at like 101.38%.
