Re: Reforging for 4.0.1 (Icecrown)
Following The Expertise Revelation (thank you theck), I'm going to alter my gearset and post it here soon.
Edit : the second gear setup is now up, possibly gonna make a 55 expertise + hitcap + block cap set later today or tomorrow

Including raid buffs is the only way it matters.

Re: Reforging for 4.0.1 (Icecrown)
My main objective using reforging was hitting some milestones:
1. Reach Uncrushable (102.4 combined avoidance + block)
2. Reach hit cap 8%
3. Reach Dodge Expertise cap 6.5%
(in this particular order of interest)
How to do this?
Ask a friend (DK/Warr/Shammy) to join your group and get the agi/str buff from them. Upon preferences use agi or str food buff (keep in mind that if you optimise your gear around this food buff, you should use it in raids as well). I've ignored this and went w/o food buff since i'm taking fish feast 90% of the time.
Also don't foget to use BoK to increase your stats.
Visit the reforging npc and start juggling with your numbers to reach the desired caps.
- In case you are over hit capped, use hit to expertise, if expertise capped use hit -> mastery
- In case you are also expertise over dodge expertise capped, try to use excess of expertise to mastery.
- Look for your dodge rating / parry rating ratio. If you have more dodge rating, reforge dodge rating into mastery, else reforge parry rating into mastery. (Rinse and repeat this step always checking your dodge/parry rating ratio, and uncrushable macro).

I forgot to add Tuskarr's as well. Running around on LDW trying to get adds I felt like I was in quicksand. PoJ is hard to live without.

Bad News Everyone!
Blizzard forgot about removing Halion's Twilight Precision, at least that's what I counclude from our WWS (damage by spell -> 1,4% dodge over the course of a 4,01min fight).
That means that the best strategy of Reforging for Halion is to reforge ALL the dodge you have on your gear (the more you go below 20%, the better) into mastery. At least that's what I would recommend (I'm sure someone will be kind enough to provide some math analysis to prove (or dipsrove?) this advice is sound.

Re: Reforging for 4.0.1 (Icecrown)
I hate to ask and look stupid in doing so but with the mass reforging of gear which i did this afternoon...is it of any benefit to start looking at gem slot colors and possibly matching them such as a stalwart ametrine +10 dodge/parry in yellows? I'm not a top end tank sitting around all 264's sans shield and weapon. I did reforge the Hctc dodge into block as a benefit. I went from straight stam stacking avoidance of 77% to still stacking but sitting at 98% after reforging (yes HS was active both times i checked my macro). I kept the 8% hitcap and 26 exp rating but did reforge exp and hit down slightly. Basically are we still in the age of EH tanking or should I look mire heavily into 102.4% offically?

What's your rationale behind prioritizing hit cap before expt soft cap?

theckhd wrote:Assume 10 of each stat. Mastery is fixed at 45.906 rating per point of mastery, and each point gives us 2% block. 10 mastery therefore gives us 0.43567% block, and we'd need 10 parry to give us less than 0.1307 avoidance for the trade to be worthwhile.
According to the matlab model, that occurs when you have 931 parry rating, or 21.21% parry on your character sheet.
It's the same calculation for dodge, but since we have more base dodge it comes out to 21.6% dodge on your character sheet. To get that in rating, you need to assume a particular level of agility buffs, so it's probably just easier to work in percentages.
So with the new Mastery buff, 10 Mastery now gives 0.65351% block, and we'd need 10 parry to give us less than 0.19605% avoidance right?
That happens where?

I have a feeling I am missing something obvious, but I am trying to make sure I understand this macro:
The +15 at the end, what exactly does that represent? I've got everything else, but that is still a mystery to me.

That change isn't on live yet, is it? I think that's only on the beta.
In any event, that change would push the crossover down to 10.06% parry, which is less than you'd have just due to base+strength. You get 5% base, and it only takes 1103 strength to get the 238 parry rating necessary to reach 10.06%.

Mastery buff isn't live yet.
I'm actually not sure what I'm going to do once it gets buffed; I'm already sitting at block cap, melee hit cap and expertise hard cap (eating expertise food for the last 40) with 58256 unbuffed hp. Wtb armory updating.

maybe reforge mastery back to dodge and parry to minimalize the role of block in your block cap?
You know that there is a guide somewhere in this topic (like in the very beginning), right? ^^

Obviously you'll be able to trade block for pure avoidance - I was just hoping it would be harder to max every stat so there were actually tradeoffs instead of being able to get everything at the same time.

Re: Reforging for 4.0.1 (Icecrown)
Hi all,
here is my char :
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet ... em&cn=Rand
I'm still far to be block capped (about 73% without holy shield).
Do you think that I should reforge more dodge and parry to reach the block cap?
Thanks in advance,
Rand
