Enchanting V Engineering
I was not exactly where to put this thread so yeah.
What are you guys' thoughts on engineering v enchanting. Right now I am JC/enchanting but with armor being really good now I was thinking to power level engineering in place of enchanting. I would lose 60 stam from rings and 22 stam from boots swaping to armor to gloves, rocket boots, and gain the use of saronite bombs and Global Thermal Sapper Charge to use as snap AOE threat on like picking up rot worms on dreamwalker and other fights.
Thoughts/Comments.

why would you use rocket boots for tanking?
but yea, I <3 my 880 armor to gloves. The other engineering enchants are pure win for offspecs though.

I have engineering/enchanting, but I wouldn't drop 450 enchanting for engineering. The armor is nice, but it's mostly there to make you feel like you're not completely wasting a profession just to get some fun toys (jeeves, wormholes, mailbox, parachute, mote zapper, etc.). The extra stamina from enchanting is probably worth more, not to mention engineering is the redheaded stepchild of crafting professions.

Once you've used rocket boots to pull the next pack in heroics before Divine Plea falls off, or used them to get to the other side of a slime puddle on Rotface or Putricide, you will want to use them all the time. (I wish I could wear them on "progression" fights, but my raidleader wants 22 stamina... dang.)
880 armor to gloves is the main tangible reason to go engineering, but here are more.
Enchanting gives you 60 stamina.
Engineering gives you:
- a 3 minute CD charge.
- a parachute that is the BIS avoidance enchant for cloak (1 more agi)
- 880 armor to gloves (~600 more than the normal enchant, right?). You don't need Armsman.
- Repair bots.
- Mailbox access + bank access. This is less useful if you have a fully tricked out argent squire. (Why should I bother? I'm an engineer!)
- Saronite Bombs for exploiting Lich King floors a ranged pickup of adds.
- BIS glove enchants for ret spec, and they aren't bad for holy either.
I don't use my parachute, but I use bombs several times a night when I want to ensure that a herd of adds stick to me. I use rocket boots for heroics and for ~5 second faster runs back from wipes.

Unfortunately Jeeves can't get you a drink (some butler he is!). The squire will sell you the mats for kungaloosh.

This is true. However, I generally carry 3 stacks of vendor drinks and 4 of mage cookies.

I was really disappointed that the squire doesn't sell water as I almost always forget to grab more vendor water. This kungaloosh advice is brilliant. I guess it's time to level my cooking.

Build a basic campfire (and possibly vote for it as new Warchief). It levels up cooking now, fer Light's sake.

Re: Enchanting V Engineering
I've played through basically all of Wrath as Blacksmithing/Jewelcrafting, and I dunno if I CBF'd to go to Engineering for the glove enchant when two extra sockets and the three dragonseye gems you can enchant can be custom tailored to Ret, tanking, or even block set for Anub'arak add tanking.
I'm strongly considering dropping Blacksmithing towards the end of the expansion to re-level mining, so that I can get my JCing up quickly when Cat drops, but I'm not sure. I'm halfway tempted to level my other toons first to 85 so that they can gather and exploit the hell out of the overblown prices that are sure to be on the AH.

A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government. – Thomas Jefferson

Because the ability to rapidly move a huge distance at "charge" speed is otherwise not available to a paladin.
It isn't even available to other tanking classes, really - boots are hugely better than charge.
Rocket Boots got us our Lich King kill this week - I'll link the fraps once it's up.
Here's another example from this week's raid.
- OT is tanking Sindragosa.
- I'm off behind an icicle resetting my stack.
- OT dies (silly bear, learn AD)
- Sindragosa is pointed at the raid, about to breath in...
- KAPOW! ROCKET BOOTS!
- Sindragosa is pointed the right way (up the stairs, for us).
- Breath goes off, raid doesn't wipe

I really love engineering. Got it on my altpally.
Its got its uses, its really awesome for saving from a wipe for some fights.
I really wanna be able to justify rerolling it, but im not sure :S

Re: Enchanting V Engineering
Rarely does a situation arise where Engineering is a great thing to have ... but when it does, you know it. Especially when you're on an alt without them (or in an EH set without them) and think, "Dammit, if I had rocket boots I could have {escaped that pair of big oozes/kited anub's spikes longer/picked up that (ranged) set of adds with a hammer of the righteous/made that jump/gotten to that giant skeleton before he aggros the raid/"
I wonder if I could pull the central set of trash in the first room of ICC trash with rocket boots + holy wrath + grenade to get me back around the pillar to LOS them.
It's also great to pop a parachute when someone does path of frost on the fall down to Anub.

This is honestly the deciding factor that keeps me with Big Wigs over DBM.
