High end talent specc and libram picks

Postby stroggylos » Tue Sep 15, 2009 2:22 am

With the site bein down and reconstructed half of my "favourites" do not work so i would like to ask something (hopefully no misinfo or covered before) :
If not mistaken Crusader specc is better than SotP even on not crusader favourites. However with the scalin in gear on ToC most tanks reach the cap of damage done by shield (3k bv if not mistaken) ... 1.Does the Crusader still cover up for that over SotP since seals continue gaining damage with strength and stam ?
2.Would it be vaible (threat wise) to start freein talents from redoubt to place them in SotP for moar threat once we well passed over 3k bv ?
3.High base bv tanks benefit more (threat wise) from SoV libram?

(lol hope i haven't spammed all the forums tbh tried to post this quite some times plus feel free to lock/redirect cause i understand it causes trouble posting here)

I believe it was actually a case of SotP is better than Crusade, except on DUH mobs which get the extra bonus from Crusade, and only when 3/3.

The damage from ShoR isn't capped at 3k, only the BV contribution is. Most people aren't anywhere close to 3k BV in MT sets.

You can turn on talent preview in the basic interface.

In fact, if you know what you're doing, you can build up the spec much faster by using it(comparable to calculators in speed of response)

No, ShoR doesn't still get gains from STR after BV capped (for dps) and it isn't affected by SP at all. What they mean is, multipliers like crusade, etc. still affect the damage of ShoR, even if you cap out on BV (which is the only stat that affects its damage). So you can hit for more than 3K damage

The damage you get from block values caps out at 2760 (note: that isn't 2760 BV, but 2760 damage from block value...it's something like 3100 BV when you hit 2760 damage). You then have the base damage and multipliers like 1HWS, Crusade, etc. to consider.

Hm, I should sometimes log my 5-man runs. In 10-man with ~1.4k unbuff BV my average hits were around 3.2k, in 5-mans at ~3k with libram up I often crit for 8k+. Highest normal hit I can see in that 10-man was:
[01:15:21.381] Dractor Shield of Righteousness Gormok the Impaler 3937
Highest crit on same fight:
[01:23:51.062] Dractor Shield of Righteousness Gormok the Impaler *7873*

I'm crusader specced, though in my 5-man gear in armory. Anyone knows what's the absolute maximum hit/crit you can get without abusing some spells like tot?

I think in a particular gear/buff configuration I was able to cap out the damage at 4200-ish (i.e., every hit was exactly the same, as was every crit).

The equation is
520+BV if BV<2400
520+2400+0.95*(BV-2400)-6.25e-4*(BV-2400)^2 for 2400<BV<3160
520+2761 if BV > 3160

So presuming you have over 3160 block value, you should be hitting for 3281 before talent/buff modifiers. OHWS is 1.1, Crusade is 1.03 (or 1.03^2). Sanctified Retribution and Curse of Elements would give you an additional 1.03 and 1.13. So you should cap out at roguhly:
3281*1.1*1.03*1.03*1.13=4327 damage. I probably didn't have Sanc. Ret. when I did my test, because skipping that factor gives me 4201 damage, which is in the ballpark of what I remember.
