Sanctuary confirmed to not stack with Renewed Hope

Postby Argali » Sun Sep 06, 2009 9:13 am

After Daikina mentioned it on the other thread, and it seemed to get overlooked, I went and tested it. Does not stack anymore.

Sad panda face.

Log pics!

Base dmg of lava! No buffs at all!

Cases 1,2,3

Cases 4,5,6

Also, I got some nice cutie felfire dematradons to hit me.

No buffs - 75105 dmg over 812 hits for an avg of 92.49
Sanc - 79190 dmg over 885 hits for an avg of 89.48
Sanc and renewed hope - 79720 over 895 hits for an avg of 89.07

Sample size is small, but I was bored.
3% DR, you would expect (0.97*92.49) = 89.72
3% DR and 3% DR stacking, you would expect (0.97*0.97*92.49) = 87.02

Can you give info on the test and results per chance?

Did you confirm BoSac's damage reduction applies to the lava by removing Renewed Hope? I ask because once upon a time, Righteous Fury reduced damage taken by the water in SSC. Then, one night, it no longer reduced it. Blizzard might have used Righteous Fury to model Blessing of Sanctuary but started from scratch on Renewed Hope since it was on a different class and not on their mind as can be seen by their stacking in the first place.

I did check it multiple ways, by adding and removing sanc and renewed hope in various way. Basically the pic is like that because I just wanted a nice 5 lines showing the damage with, and without san & renewed hope. I'll SS some more logs with adding buffs, removing buffs, and without RF tomorrow, and update the first psot.

I'll take you at your word on it, but others might like the SS. I just wanted to make sure you accounted for that possibility. You tested order of application for both ways, too, I guess?

Case #1 Blessing of Sanctuary
Case #2 Blessing of Sanctuary then Renewed Hope
Case #3 Blessing of Sanctuary then Renewed Hope then remove Blessing of Sanctuary
Case #4 Renewed Hope
Case #5 Renewed Hope then Blessing of Sanctuary (this one we saw)
Case #6 Renewed Hope then Blessing of Sanctuary then remove Renewed Hope
Case #7 None (the control case and also the one we saw)

Some of those may seem redundant, but keep in mind that until recently, removing Blessing of Kings while Blessing of Sanctuary was up caused the 10% stamina buff to disappear.

Test multiple damage sources tbh, and also take into account some damage is rolled.

Also the damage being prevented doesn't match up with a 3% reduction. With a 501-502 post-reduction damage, the per-reduction size of the hits is predicted to be 516-518 damage. And a 515 hit is predicted to go down to 499-500.

Taking a look at other damage sources:
You tested environmental
Player DoT,
Mob DoT
other regular sources

Nice questions. But I was intending to point out that there was no change in dmg taken when there previously was. When I did the testing for when lore said BoS and RH didn't stack, I used the same lava, and there was an actual difference. Wish I had bothered to SS that.

Anyway, I'll sort out some logs like soon.

That was still the case yesterday when I mysteriously had 3k health less than I though I should.
