Hit vs Expertise

Postby Foobars » Thu Jun 04, 2009 1:11 pm

Like the topic says, Hit vs Expertise which is the most benifical stat overall. Last night I got Stoneguard off Kologarn and have been using Legacy of Thunder off Thorim. Im trying to compare which of these would be best.

Legacy of Thunder
194 - 361 Damage Speed 1.70
(163.2 damage per second)
+35 Strength
+69 Stamina
Durability 105 / 105
Requires Level 80
Equip: Increases defense rating by 26
Equip: Increases your dodge rating by 34
Equip: Increases your expertise rating by 23

++Higher base weapon dammage for more dammage on HoTR
++26 Defense rating
++3 Dodge rating
++23 Expertise rating

Vs.

Stoneguard
Binds when picked upOne-Hand Sword
182 - 340 Damage Speed 1.60
(163.1 damage per second)
+35 Strength
+69 Stamina
Durability 105 / 105
Requires Level 80
Equip: Increases your dodge rating by 31
Equip: Increases your parry rating by 30
Equip: Improves hit rating by 24

++Faster swing speed for quicker stacking of SOC
++30 Parry rating
++24 Hit Rating

Hit is better than expertise for threat until capped. Expertise isn't really a go to stat for us. To put everything on the table though, expertise does have an extremely slight amount of mitigation tied into it from less parry hasting, though it's generally not considered noticeable enough to be considered a reason to stack expertise.

In regards to the actual weapons... I am inclined to believe that Legacy of Thunder is better just off the top of my head (from a defensive standpoint).

I wanted to point out that HotR is not based on your weapon damage range. It's based on DPS. Those weapons will hit almost the same for HotR, because they're only 0.1 dps different.

Otherwise yes, hit is much stronger as a threat stat. If you don't need the defense on Thorim's and you aren't a dwarf, I'd go with the sword.
