Rotation Advice

Postby Nadeshiko » Thu May 28, 2009 7:23 am

Greetings

I was wondering if I could do anything in this rotation to up my threat, or if there is anything wrong with this rotation? I feel I could do much more threat.

HS -> HotR -> Consec -> SotR -> Judg of Wis -> Hotr -> HS -> SOTR -> Consec -> Hotr > Judge of Wis -> SotR

Looks like the 9696 to me, so you're doing well.

However, I will be nitpicky and point out that "Shield of Righteousness" has to "the" in it.

And if you want burst threat in the beginning, it's a good idea to pull with AS, cast Ex while the mob is on it's way to you and then lead off the 9696 with Judgement and ShoR.

Looks like the 969 rotation to me, which is the most optimal rotation - plenty of threads/posts onthe subject already.
About the only thing I would suggest is to swap over your first consecration with your first judgement - this lets you get JoW up earlier and also makes your first SotR benefit from your libram proc for more initial threat.
AS and Exo before mob gets to you, then HS up as he arrives and into your rotation.

My standard pulling technique is:
0.0 Divine Plea
1.5 Holy Shield
3.0 Avenger's Shield
4.5 Exorcism
-- start 969
6.0 Judgement
7.5 ShoR
9.0 Consecration
10.5 HotR
12.0 Holy Shield

I have yet to find a DPS that can pull aggro over that ridiculous front-loading of threat abilities. There's a small half-second gap before HS gets refreshed, but that early in the fight it's rarely an issue.

The only thing I've found that's better is when the other raid leader decides to pop all his cooldowns on a Pyro to pull, and I RD off of him while the AS is en route. Timing's a little tricky to get down, and it's grossly unnecessary, but still kinda fun.

So you judge and then you go to Holy Shield? That messes up your 96969 rotation, since your first judgement cooldown collides with something else. It's safe to delay HS a bit at the start, if you die that early, due to 1.5k damage not being avoided, go shout at your healers for not being in position fast enough :P
If it is weak, kill it before it gets stronger. If it is strong, weaken it.

Is this a boss pull or trash? If it's a boss I usually pop DP (even on trash), Aura Mastery and Avenging Wrath (SS if no other pallies) before the pull.

I will second this startup rotation (plus what I added in bold..assuming you don't need Divine Protection in the first 30ish seconds of the fight).

I thought I had read somewhere that we should be subbing Exo for Judgement every other trip though the rotation.

Is that no longer true?

Avenging Wrath before the pull is a bad idea...a little extra damage on AS isn't worth the wasted seconds of AW while you and the mob are closing in on each other. I generally pop AW right before my second ShoR or so.

Depending on glyphs, it can be a DPS/TPS upgrade to sub exorcism in. It's debatable whether or not it's worth it though. Also, if you're still using the badge libram it's definitely not worth it.
