HoSalv mechanic ?

Postby Wingi » Fri May 22, 2009 2:47 am

Hi !

Here I come again, asking for your advices :)

It is my understanding that when using HoSalv, you loose 20% of your current total aggro, over 10 sec, at a rate of 2% per sec.

Just to make sure I'm getting this right, here are some (hypothetical) figures :
Let's say I'm currently getting 5k tps, and using HoSalc when got 100k total threat.
I would loose 20k aggro over 10 sec (20%), while getting 50k (5k tps x10 sec), resulting to 100 - 20 + 50 = 130k total aggro 10 sec later.

With this mechanic in mind, is it advisable for me to use HoSalv right before pulling ? doing so, I would loose 20% of 0 aggro, and could build some aggro with no penalty while enjoying full 20% mitigation ?

Please note that this is a very theorical question. I can't think of any pull requiring this kind of mitigation right form the start ... But I am blessed with healers I cannot entrust my life with, so I have to make it up for they lack of ... whatever they could lack of, seems they always find new ways of letting me die ;)

Thanks in advance for your answers,
Wingi

It's iterative. That is to say every second you lose 2% of your current threat. The formula would look something like this:

(total threat + TPS) * .98 = Y1, Y1 is your new total threat after 1 second

Next second would go like this:

(Y1+TPS) * .98 = Y2

etc till

(Y9 + TPS) * .98 = final threat.

In your hypothetical situation you would end up with 126.52k threat at the end rather than 130k for a net loss of 23.48k threat.

So you could say I loose 2% of my "instant cumuled threat" per second, for 10 sec ...
And that I am indeed undegoing a penalty using this spell before pull.

Thanks for your quick answer !
