Your threat generation

Been getting some tanking epics from my raids, and it made me thinking about trying protection again.

But i still have some way to go, and i was wondering if it`s worth it. As i see it, the only advantage i might have over a druid or warrior is my threat generation when it comes to bosses.

I have been looking over the forums, but i havent really found any good reference to how much threat tankadins are putting up on various bosses. So im wondering what tps some of you people with ~400 +dmg are sporting

Your threat generation will be the same as warriors over let say 10 minutes fight. You will have some pre-buffered threat but if you count total threat and divide by encounter time, values will be more or less the same.

Assuming boss is melee (so you can block) and you are receiving at least 3000TPS of incoming damage, you can expect about 800 sustaned long-term TPS according to EJ calculator and common experience.

For Karazhan it will be closer to 1000 due to exorcism. Faster hitting mob ~ more generated threat.

yupp, i got around 450 spelldmg in raids and can sustain ~800 TPS, varies some on the mobs attackspeed and type.

Not sure of the average but I would agree about 800-900. On most mobs I see it fluctuate between 700-1100 over the course of the fight.

There is, but from browsing trough it i didnt see any numbers from actual fights. Imo, too many variables to crunch it with a formula.
