Then explain me dying in 0.5 seconds with DP up? Should only be able to do 75% of my HP.

Easy to do. It measures the damage you take, not the damage you should take. You take 100% and die.

Why would you use divine protection instead of divine shield? Also if you use divine protection did you hit it first or did you hit divine sac first? Both cause a gcd so you can't mash them at the same time. Also the damage from Divine sac max out at 150%, but if you are using divine protection you are still able to take direct damage. I assume that you are using this on the detonators and what happened was something like this.
aoe down the lashers
pop DP and DS
you absorb damage from the raid (your HPx150%/2)=75%hp
you take damage directly from the lashers >=25%hp

Next time, unless you are actually tanking something at the time, use divine shield. If you are tanking something, don't use divine sac.

The 150% of your max hitpoints is per hit, not total. So yeah it can kill you if you aren't bubbled.

Also, redirected damage isn't mitigated by anything including DP.

I don't read the talent as being per hit at all. I think it's total damage done. So if I have 40k hp I can absorb a total of 60k damage from the raid.

/shrug there was testing done on it and they were absorbing up to 100k+ on 25 man raids. The concensus was that the tooltip was badly worded.

Can you post a link to this? tbh I don't use this much. Pretty much just for the XT fight before the first adds I pop it to help with that first tantrum, it works great for that.

You die if you do something silly like using DS before DP... it's a common mistake, and easy to correct.

Whether it is per hit or for the duration doesn't matter, if you're using DP you're gonna need healing on the offchance anything else did damage to you.

Use Divine shield if you have no adds on you, simple.

I have an off tank taunt off me on Freya during the flower adds so that I can DS/DS on the first set then have a Ret pally DS/DS for the 2nd set. It seems like using Divine Sac with Divine Prot isn't a very bright idea on most fights.

every single time that I attempt to use this talent without DS, I have died. During deconstructor, I know that I received a lot of heals and still got overwhelmed by the damage. This led me to believe that it absorbs 150% of my health on every person affected by it. That would also explain why it has never reached this cap. I wont know for sure unless I test it with DP and guardian on me.

P.S. since I am always tanking, this talent gets little to no use ever. I wish that I could spec out of it, but 1 point in divinity or reckoning would be even more useless (2/2 imp HoJ is ftw).

I think you can bubble safely during the Tantrum, for what it's worth. If memory serves, he stops meleeing during the channel but WILL turn to face the highest aggro melee until you click it off.
