Unrealistic Equivalent Point?

Postby crabcrouton » Thu Jan 01, 2009 3:13 am

I'm sitting at 540 Defense (692 Rating) with very little +Parry Rating gear.

My character pane says I have:
- a 15.71% chance to Parry (I'm assuming this is after DR).

Plotting 15.71% into that equation, I'm looking at a 38% Dodge before I should gem for Parry. Does that seem realistically feasible given available gear?

Right now I'm block capped and wearing a mix of T7s, Naxx and Heroics gear and I'm hovering low 20% Dodge chance. I just don't think we'll ever gem for Parry.

While we won't now, it's possible we will later on in t8/t9 content.

We'll likely never gem for parry. Our gear will likely give us all the parry rating we want or need.

EDIT: meant gem not gear.

Probable, but for all we know the next tier could be made up of items like the Breastplate of Tormented Rage.

Yeah that's a definite possibility.

One thing I'm hoping they'll do for us Pallies is to trade in that +Block Rating into +Defense. That'll give us maintain block cap, while still efficiently scaling our avoidance. However, if they give me what I ask for, we'll also be getting more Parry % thus pushing the Dodge cutoff mark higher.

Only time will tell but I'm holding out on them replacing our BR with Def.

It was fine for them to put block rating on paladin T7 gear. It will not be alright to continue to put it on our T8 and beyond gear simply because it will be useless due most already being block capped.

Definitely, that's what I'm referring to. Since we're pushing blocks off the table, Defense is the only logical choice remaining.
