Call Flames 0.5 sec cast Summons several jets of flame from nearby fires to strike at the caster's enemies.

This boss event is started by moving into her room. An event will start where she talks to arthas and the observers run out. You unable to fight observers. After about 30 seconds the boss will aggro and become target able. While waiting for this stand underneath her.

Three times during the fight she will cast Ritual of the Sword. One of your team will be CCed in the middle of the altar and three mobs will spawn right in in front of it. They do not attack and are just meat shields. Kill the 3 mobs to remove CC from your ally and save them from the slowly descending sword.

After sword lands Svala will attack the top on her aggro again. She can be attacked while in the air but the 3 adds are more important. The fire ability cause small amounts of AOE damage and is not really noticed.

This boss event is started by right clicking and channeling the object in the room. This will release 4 mini bosses in random order then the boss.

Ferocious Rhino - Ranged keep their distance from his AOE. Heal to full the victim of his bleed.

Frenzied Worgen - DPS race before mortal wound stacks.

Massive Jormungar - Face away from group. Cleanse poison dot.

Ravenous Furbolg - Face away from group. Fears.

Gortok Palehoof - Cleaves. Physical Damage/DOT random members. DPS race before before Withering Roar stacks.

Crush Melee Range Instant 3 sec cooldown Deals 200% melee damage to your target, knocking them down for 2 sec.

Start event. Collect harpoons. Reset event. Move to guns. Start event again. AOE adds. Shoot down Skadi. Kill Skadi.

The information.

Event is started by any player moving near Skadi.
Event can be reset by all players leaving the gauntlet.
You only have to go a few meters in Gortok's room to reset it.
Skadi takes 1 minute to respawn after it's reset.

Event triggers 15 "stationary" undead to spawn all at once. Then a pair of "running" undead every 15 seconds.
They all share a common spawn point in a room to left of guns.
Undead consist of melee, casters, and harpooners.
Harpooners drop a harpoon when they die.
Harpoons are stick looking objects on the floor that you can right click to put in your inventory.
You need to use the guns in the room to shoot the harpoons at Skadi.
It takes 5 shots to bring Skadi into the fight.
Harpoons can be traded.
The stationary undead consist of 6 rows of 2. And a final group of 3. The only stationary Harpooner is in the very back.

Every minute Skadi gives you a "window of opportunity" where he is in range of the guns. He is in range for about 15 seconds.
While in range he will pick a side. Left or right. You can tell by looking at him and judging if he is more left or more right. He will cover that side's floor in frost. Being on that side when he does hurts a lot. Standing in the frost also hurts.
The frost doesn't go in the room where mobs spawn, nor does it reach the end of the gauntlet room.
One person can shoot down Skadi alone in a single pass by quickly going between the 3 guns with 5 harpoons. But getting 2 people to do it is safer if unsure.

The plan.

Tell group "We will be collecting harpoons then resetting it. We will not be moving forward. Stay behind me."
Start the event and then back up. You can clear the first row of stationary undead. Otherwise stay back out of frost path range.
Farm 5 harpoons from the runners.
Signal group to move into Gortok's room and reset event.
Immediately run back into the gauntlet room, past where skadi should be, to the guns.
Tank stand in the doorway to the spawn room. Heals and two dps stand a few meters back, not in the spawn room. One DPS stands near Skadi so he can start event on demand.

Tell group "When I tell him to, DPS A will start the event. This will instantly spawn 15 undead. I will get aggro and stun them all. As soon as you see them spawn, run into the room with me. The room is safe from frost path. AOE until room is clear then DPS A and DPS B will shoot down skadi. Finish off any spawning adds that are left. Watch out for any adds that might patrol to the end and back. Then just watch out for whirlwinds."

Consecration / Holy Wrath / ( Optional) Divine Protection
Everyone comes in room. 30 seconds later all adds are dead.
Your DPS shoot down skadi in one pass.

Have healer/ranged at maximum range.
Position your self in a corner near the guns.
Make sure poisons are cleansed.
When he whirlwinds if he goes for ranged, let him go almost all the way then taunt him back.
If he goes for a melee DPS, taunt him asap.
If he goes for you then run along back wall behind the guns. He won't go behind the guns and him trying to go around slows him down.
Whirlwind can be blocked so don't get shot in the back.

Spirit Burst 0.5 sec cast Deals 2357 to 2643 Shadow damage to all surrounding enemies.
Fetid Rot Melee Range Instant Afflicts the target with Fetid Rot, dealing 2828 to 3172 Nature damage every 3 sec. and decreasing healing received by 25%. Lasts 9 sec. Dispel type Disease
Dark Slash Melee Range Instant Slashes the target with darkness, dealing damage equal to half the target's current health.
Bane 2 sec cast Surrounds the caster with an aura of Bane, which deals 1414 to 1586 Shadow damage to nearby enemies whenever the caster is dealt direct damage. Lasts 5 sec.
Screams of the Dead Instant Lets out a bone chilling scream, stunning all enemies for 8 sec.

Feels like a tank and spank. Four times during fight he will stun you and go to a longboat. Not a big deal. Main thing to watch for is "Bane". 2 second cast time so easy to see. While he has this buff stop all direct damage. This buff can be dispelled (Priest dispel, Warlock Fel Hunter, Shaman Purge, Warrior Shield Slam). Also Range should stay far enough away to avoid his AOE. If people attack on bane you will die very fast.


Strategy:

The first trash pull (in the room before the snowy walkway) can be avoided by going through the skeletons on the right side and jumping down. AoE skellies. Tell hunters/locks/DKs to dismiss pets, because they may path down the stairway and pull the pack. Keep in mind that if you want to walk out the quick way after the last boss instead of hearthing/porting you will need to kill these guys anyway. - Vya


Dragonflayer Seers are a concern. Face them away from group, focus fire, and interrupt.

The first pull in the first snowy area should be a 3 pull. There is a Dragonflayer Fanatic doing a short patrol by them. Line of sight the Seer to avoid the add. *Warning* The Scourge Hulk on the right may add also if you try to face pull for a total of 5 elites.

That Hulking Scourge can be easily skipped by walking on the snow on the left side of the path. The Hulking Scourge at the end of the same hall in a similar position can not be skipped as easily.

After first boss there is new trash.

Focus fire Bloodthirsty Tundra Wolf on sight. Watch for patrols on the stairs.

After third boss there is new trash.

Focus fire Ymirjar Dusk Shaman. If you have no grounding totems then pull back Ymirjar Berserkers a safe distance because they cast potent fear. It is a 1 second cast so you can interrupt it. Face Ymirjar Necromancers away from group because of shadow bolt volley.

In the first room after Skadi is stairs with a hole in it. Fall down this hole in the stairs to skip the Scourge Hulk.

In the last room before King Ymiron there is a pair of Ymirjar Dusk Shamans doing a very long patrol past the 4 stationary elites then up the ramp to the boss. May end up waiting for them to move out of the way. You may not see them for 10-15 seconds while they patrol to the boss.

You can pull the 2 shamans before you pull the 4 stationary elites if you are careful and time it at the very end of their patrol.

The three pull before the boss is not too hard except for fears.

The Incredible Hulk
Force Svala Sorrowgrave to kill a Scourge Hulk on Heroic Difficulty in Utgarde Pinnacle.

- Wait so see if your DPS can kill the 3 adds fast enough. If they can, pull the Scourge Hulk from the direction you need to go. Tell group to dps him down but not to kill. 1-30%. . Position hulk under sword with you on top of altar is safe spot. There is a bit of luck to this. The Scourge Hulk can knock you back then chase you away from the altar. So if he stands there the whole time, 30% is enough. But 1% is better in case he knock you back before he takes full damage.

My Girl Loves to Skadi All the Time
Defeat Skadi the Ruthless in Utgarde Pinnacle on Heroic Difficulty after having killed Grauf from 100% to dead in a single pass.

Lodi Dodi We Loves the Skadi
Defeat Skadi the Ruthless in Utgarde Pinnacle on Heroic Difficulty within 3 minutes of starting the gauntlet event.

- Both of these you will attain by doing my Strategy on Skadi.

King's Bane
Defeat King Ymiron in Utgarde Pinnacle on Heroic Difficulty without anyone in the party triggering Bane.

- All dps have to watch for him to cast bane, and stop all direct damage while the bane buff is on the boss. Dispel if he does get the bane buff. To prevent him casting it at all you can do this.


If you have good DPS the King's Bane achievement is extremely easy.

He casts Bane on like a 15 second timer that is also dependant on his health. (I think its every 20 percent but it may be 25%). If you get him below the designated health before the timer goes off each time then he will never cast Bane the whole fight.

The first timer is the hardest because you have to get all of your group debuffs on him and burn him down. We just have everyone in the group blow all their cooldowns right off the start. As long as we burn him hard through the first health window then its smooth sailing all the way through the rest of the fight. If you miss the timer and he actually starts casting Bane then you just have everyone stop attacking. - Neroth

Excellent guide! A couple of comments:

Keep in mind that if you want to walk out the quick way after the last boss instead of hearthing/porting you will need to kill these guys anyway.

When bugging Skadi, I have not found it necessary to use Divine Protection during the initial massive pack of mobs in the little room. Just Holy Wrath and make sure DPS starts AoE immediately.

Make sure your healer knows to cleanse the last boss's disease off you. Keep an eye on it and self-cleanse if needed... the healing received debuff hurts.

wow, sweet guide. I found the miniboss event to be a complete wipefest. Group was not ready for the endurance match of the 4 mobs then boss. The furbolg is very annoying with his fear and aggro shed, plus my team consisted of a bunch of nostalgic guys wearing lvl 70 epics. We never made it past this.

I wish other classes would read up on boss fights, instance strats, etc. It seems like everytime I run something, even the level 80's are sayin "how does this go? its my first run :)". Not a huge issue, but if everyone knew what was goin on, there would be no surprises. Like attacking when Bane is up and wondering why everyone died.... Also, why do people not have enemy cast bar showing? I dont know how many times I have said "watch out for when he's casting XXXX spell" And I get "how do we know hes casting?" or "Is there an emote so we know to run?" How have you gotten to level 80 without enemy cast bar? Gawd, get educated people!

Very nice. For the trash you might want to add if their abilities can be countered and if so, how. For instance, the beserker's fear can either be stopped by interupting it's cast or stunning.

Added the strategy of interrupting the berserker fear.

It occurs to me that you can interrupt any ability with a cast time on trash with the exception of the stun immune Scourge Hulk, who doesn't spend time casting anyways. Cast time on abilities are included.

Before raiding on my hunter, I didn't really have one. It was only when playing a melee class that can DO SOMETHING about casts (shock, stun, gouge, pummel, etc) that it actually made a difference.

That said, I don't understand it either.

The first timer is the hardest because you have to get all of your group debuffs on him and burn him down. We just have everyone in the group blow all their cooldowns right off the start. As long as we burn him hard through the first health window then its smooth sailing all the way through the rest of the fight. If you miss the timer and he actually starts casting Bane then you just have everyone stop attacking.

I'm at work, so I don't have the exact health and timer numbers, but the strategy stays the same. Burn him as hard as possible in the first few seconds and you can probably keep him from casting Bane at all.

The guide says turn away from group to avoid the volleys. Does this really work? I've ran UP three or four times, and the last two times I've either had people die or half dead on the pull with two necromancers. Previous runs I didn't even notice they were a threat.

BTW when Ymiron goes for a boat, that stun can be removed with Divine Shield as well as the human racial. Useful when you or a melee is caught stunned in a spirit well (the white swirling AOE thingy).

The two necromancer Pull. You have to have them both face away from the group. But then you end up with a lack of threat on the one closer to the door, it turns to a dps and splashes the raid with the volley.

Pop wings, make sure you get 2-3 big hits on the first necro before going behind second. Mark the FIRST one skull.
