I wonder why. Porcupines, at least, seem like they'd be reasonable attack pets. No weirder than boars or ravagers. I guess it would be a little odd to see a silkworm charging in to attack a boss though.
Both the porcupines and silkworms were added using a "boar" core beast model, so when they made the boars tameable, they forgot that the boar "flag" existed on a few other beasts, and thus those became tameable.
Either would require some serious work if the decided to make them tameable, and the silkworm model/skin would need some serious work.
Some of the folks on Petopia are very dissapointed about this development.

When you say they "would require some serious work," what do you mean? I thought pet talents/abilities were being consolidated in MoP? Presumably they already have attack animations, so it would be as simple as giving them a handful of abilities, no? Or am I missing something?

Hm... something I haven't checked. What is the starting pet for a Panda Hunter, and is it different Horde side vs Ally side?

The models likely don't have all the attack animations required, special ability needs to be added, and the silkworms are way too low rez. That said, porcupines are much more likely than the silkworms to stay as a pet.
(and really, if you are going to have porcupines, they need their own special attack with quills...)
Also they would need to add a new family for the worms, and they have to figure out what family the porcupines would go in, if they don't get their own.

It's the same turtle, and you don't pick Horde vs Ally until you finish the zone.

Still, let's hope they settle on things soon enough - there's still the numbers pass to do.
There's a few numbers changes starting to go in. Hurricane cost adjusted, Moonfire damage buffed, DS buffed, and a few other adjustments. Ghostcrawler has been making some specific comments about numbers on abilities too, so I think the internal process of review is well under way.

Re: Pandaclysm and the other classes
So GC himself stepped in, and gave hunters the procupines, and the silkworms. And then in a flurry yesterday came water striders (exotic), quillin (exotic), goats, and basilisks (and the cranes which we already knew about). The big alienish strider things in Zangermarsh count as water striders. There is much rejoicing.
I still want the new mantidtanks, but other than that and a few new spirit beasts (need some rares to chase), I'll be good for the first installment of pandaland.
For reference for those of you not following the ways of the hunter.. mantidtank:

I'd imagine this is only part of the changes being made... don't fret just yet.

Possibly just a datamining error or a bug I'd suppose.

Re: Pandaclysm and the other classes
With a partly functional Power Auras and the latest change to energy regen, I've started getting the hang of the Windwalker Monk. I'd been pretty meh about it before, especially while energy was 8/second, but I'm starting to get into it now. I like the playstyle, and that there's a lot of room for me to learn how to finesse the little details like energy pooling and the cooldowns.
Rotation's simple but engaging. Jab for Chi, Rising Sun Kick on cooldown, Blackout Kick to consume Chi; Tiger Palm only with Mastery procs or to refresh the buff (or if I have 1 Chi left and nothing else to cast, which happens if I had to refresh without a proc). Not sure if Fists of Fury is supposed to fit in there somewhere. I've taken to banking 2 Chi so I can use RSK on cooldown, Tiger Palm with <2 seconds left, and throw in extra finishers during Tigereye Brew.
Whether or not I make a main change might come down to if I like the Brewmaster spec, though, because otherwise there's not much point switching from one dps toon to another when I like both.

Re: Pandaclysm and the other classes
So I'm starting to see theorycrafting for max dps in heroic T14 gear, fully raid buffed. Looks like hunters will be doing 95-100k fully decked and buffed. Anyone seen what the other classes are looking like?
