If the food buff will allow you to eat during combat would be OP... of course you will be 10 seconds out of the fight to apply the buff and getting crit if hit..

Tbh it sounds like you have problems particular to playing with very high latency. My usual latency is 30ms or less and i can't relate to your problems at all (and neither i doubt can Blizzard).
So what I'm hearing is that blizzard doesn't care about their oceanic player base? Or people playing on US servers from EU etc.?
TBH i'm pretty sure they don't consider these players when considering class design.
Especially not EU players on US servers. There's EU servers for EU players for that very reason.

AFAIK it does not. But keep in mind that WoG is off-GCD for prot only, it's still on-GCD for Ret/Holy. And rodos and I were specifically talking about Holy using back-to-back WoGs.
The same issue won't affect us, because we'll be casting WoG on demand independently of the GCD.

Re: Mists of Pandaria
With the current Prot design in the beta, is using WoG whatsoever a valid and meaningful choice?
The reason that I'm concerned is that losing an application of the SotR buff (guaranteed block of the next attack that connects and +25% block value for 6s) seems extremely prohibitive to me.

Have we verified it's the next block that hits that gets the guaranteed block, and not just the next swing regardless of if it connects?

Re: Mists of Pandaria
Depends on the size of the hits. If 25% blocked hit < WoG heal using WoG is more effective than applying the buff.

Yes. You can't block everything. I can think of several situations in Dragon Soul where I'd choose WoG over SotR. Sometimes a heal is the right choice, and sometimes the SotR buff will be the right choice. It makes sense for SotR to be the "default," though, and WoG to be the special-case exception.

I don't know that anyone's verified any of that yet. However, it should be easy to test, because from the logs it looks like SotR grants 2 different buffs - one for the guaranteed block, one for the increased block amount. Just record a combat log while dueling a melee class (someone with a slow swing speed would be ideal, like a DK or ret). If we see a situation where you dodge/parry while under the guaranteed block buff without losing said buff, then it's on the next un-avoided attack.
My guess is that it's coded that way, because it would be silly otherwise. In other words, it should work such that the buff gives you +100% block chance, and persists until it expires or the game registers a block event (i.e. makes the second combat roll, which should not performed if you avoid). But until we confirm it, that's all speculation.

i think i was half asleep reading the new glyph list and read glyph of beacon of light as glyph of word of glory and thought the glyph removed WoG from the GCD for all specs :S

Not financially viable ~= Not care
Telstra runs one hell of a monopoly, you should know that.
Blaming Telstra is bullshit. There are plenty of other options at the server-connectivity end (and for international transit too). They just don't think the expense will be offset by more subscribers. I'll be interested to see if the Sydney-based SW:ToR servers continue - that might prompt Blizzard to look into it again. I'm guessing it just comes down to most Oceanic players that quit putting "Got bored of Cata" on their exit survey rather than "Ping too high".

I wouldn't trust Internode to host something like a WoW server either. It's possible that it's just because I'm from Queensland but Internode has a vibrant history of biting off more than they can chew up here.

Internode (now iinet) are just one option. You can rent rack space in a datacentre here in Sydney and buy connectivity from Telstra, Optus, Pipe, Internode, Verizon, PacNet, and more. The trans-Pacific traffic can go via Southern Cross (Optus, Verizon, AAPT), Endeavour (Telstra), or PPC-1 (Pipe, Internode). If there are no WoW servers in Australia it's because Blizzard sees no market advantage, not because the infrastructure can't handle it -- the traffic is all traveling over the network now and moving the endpoint wouldn't change that.

Warlock helm is best thing ever.
We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.
