Well, Lauren Faust' view of the franchise was totally different, talking about showing girls that you didn't have to be a princess and things like that, then recently you have Meghan McCarthy saying "every girl a princess!"

Maybe it'll be like that season of Stargate SG1 where Daniel Jackson ascended and then was kicked out because he helped us lowly humans.

Well... Hasbro/Hub is apparently sorta merging SG1 and MLP with Equestria Girls *gags*

And she stated her opinion well enough. AND I would give it to her that there were other, better options.

But being right does not grant license to piss on others. I still respect her quality as a writer and artist. I'll just amend her notes as "vindictive".

Edit: And I just re-read the tweet and those around it, providing context. It's a bit of a tossup whether she talked about Disney or Hasbro, so I'll retract unless things get more clear cut.

You know what, I think it's better that she was ambiguous.

Ever since Twilicorn was revealed/leaked. Larson and McCarthy went into full spin mode, hyping the whole thing. There were some really good highlights in that episode, but overall it was a letdown, specially the conclusion, and the fanbase is very divided over it.

I am thinking they knew it was not gonna sit well with the fanbase, cuz even before the episode premiered, they were saying "Oh, someone really special is gonna come back for the finally" hinting at Derpy making cameos again after she was gone for all of S3.

Faust's remarks are basically "If the shoe fits" and I wonder if the fandom's reaction to the episode is giving them second thoughts on how they did the episode, enough to wear that shoe. I mean S3 was incredibly lackluster for the most part, and people are afraid the tone of the show is gonna change, that is gonna go from Friendship is Magic to The Twilight Sparkle Show and considering how the episode went, I gotta say the fear is not entirely unfounded.

Don't know, still enjoyed most of S3 myself with the notable exception of Spike at your Service.

Also, major change in the storyline after two seasons of near-stagnancy, de-canonisation of two of THE biggest point the fanbase takes as granted (alicorns being near-gods, and re-evaluating Twilight's place in the world) - if anyone was surprised the fanbase would be in a panic, I've got a bridge in San Fransisco to sell.

I'm actually hoping the comment had NOTHING to do with ambiguity, because that'd be fear-mongering of the lowest level.

The fandom curretly reeks of WoW-like reactions, and i've honestly been considering not even bothering talking about the show anymore - the community has proven itself just as low as any other, and that was a very bitter pill to swallow.
