Worldie wrote:Lol at the buffs... the patch is now live and I'm up by 300k char sheet dps, insane.
I dropped 80K sheet DPS to take Lord Commander since I worked both Phalanx and now Bombardment with its Holy rune into my build. Bombardment with a 1H still seems lackluster.
We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

I'd argue I just don't like (what I consider to be) stupid game design, when so much better is possible.
Is it known what calculations are behind sheet DPS? Googling around is inconclusive, but some posts suggest it's essentially white damage, which is asinine.

Re: Diablo 3 is live!
It can't be just white damage, because it's influenced by crit / crit dmg / atk speed and not by phisical modifier.

But then they wouldn't really be ARPGs. Why do you think they have seasons/ladders? Stashless fresh regrind for all!

It is pretty much the damage you'd do with a 100% weapon attack over a period of time. So it is pretty much irrelevant for 100% of all builds. Attack Speed, Crit and Crit Damage are calculated into it along with primary stat and weapon damage.

Re: Diablo 3 is live!
Looked up a legendary earlier and came across this, might be worth sharing. The list in the source has item tooltips on hover, if curious.
Source.
21) I've heard there are certain cache-specific legendaries, such as the Ring of Royal Grandeur?
Yes: certain legendaries can only drop from bounty caches; the difficulty level doesn't matter, but they only drop from caches from two acts each (act 4 and one other act). Those are all currently known bounty cache legendaries:
Avarice Band - Act 3 and Act 4
Boots of Disregard - Act 3 and Act 4
Burst of Wrath - Act 3 and Act 4
Cloak of Deception - Act 2 and Act 4
Coven's Criterion - Act 2 and Act 4
Death's Bargain - Act 4 and Act 5
Envious Blade - Act 3 and Act 4
Gloves of Worship - Act 2 and Act 4
Golden Gorget of Leoric - Act 1 and Act 4
Helltrapper - Act 4 and Act 5
Ilusory Boots - Act 2 and Act 4
Insatiable Belt - Act 3 and Act 4
Mad Monarch's Scepter - Act 1 and Act 4
Overwhelming Desire - Act 3 and Act 4
Pandemonium Loop - Act 4 and Act 5
Pauldrons of the Skeleton King - Act 1 and Act 4
Pride's Fall - Act 3 and Act 4
Ring of Royal Grandeur - Act 1 and Act 4
Salvation - Act 4 and Act 5
Sanguinary Vambraces - Act 1 and Act 4
Soulsmasher - Act 4 and Act 5

It's a little strange to me that there's so much data in this game you can't get unless you read the right websites, and so much data that you can't get at all.
Wish they would just provide combat log capabilities.

I figured I would semi-necro this thread as I'm looking for a new clan. I like to play solo, but also enjoy sharing my conquests with d00dz.

Re: Diablo 3 is live!
Anyone still playing? I haven't kept up with the info around all the updates, but I understand there's some kind of season thing now - and that you create a new character for this. I'm someone who prefers to make one character, a main character, and then focus my efforts on that one character. Can I enter the seasons with my main, or do I have to create a new one every time, or how does this stuff work exactly?
Also I'll repost this for Heil in case he's still looking:

Re: Diablo 3 is live!
I do play it from work to pass time usually.
Seasonal characters are on a totally different sector than normal ones, they start from 0 and have no access to the normal characters bank or paragon levels. Everytime a new season start, seasonal characters are converted to normal characters and you start from 0 again.
The main point of seasonal is the greater rift rankings, to prove you are the very best etc etc etc.
I've personally hit 70 on 1 seasonal char in season 1, and 2 so far in season 2. They have added a new legendary gem that (with the help of a friend) lets you do 1>70 in... 20 minutes more or less. I've stopped playing the seasonal char once I have hit BiS non-ancient though, cause I have no interest in greater rifts over 25.

Hmm. Okay, thanks. So no new content for the normal gameplay / old main chars?

Re: Diablo 3 is live!
I am SO annoyed. There's a bug with AMD graphic cards and Windows 10, which causes my game to freeze in some specific areas, making it impossible for me to complete bountyes if they pop in those places...
Anyone faced this bug too and has any idea of how to solve? I couldn't find a working fix...

Re: Diablo 3 is live!
My friend had the same issue. Apparently he fixed it via placing an antiquated Directx 9 .dll file directly in the Diablo 3 folder.
He used http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=399547
Hope that helps.

Yeh exactly what I've eventually found and done.
Annoying but I guess have to expect some odd bug with newly released W10 supports.

Considering to get back into the game, at least a little bit. What's the procedure? Where's the gameplay these days? All in the seasons? So just start a new seasonal character and have at it?

Re: Diablo 3 is live!
Not really, you don't *have* to play seasonal.
So far I've always just made 1 seasonal character for the rewards every season (which got boosted by random friends, you can do 1-70 in less than a hour) and once i achieved all rewards I left it there. I do 99% of my play in off-season chars.

I see, thanks. What do you do off-seasons? Greater Rifts and bounties?

Essentially.
I mean, you *could* play Seasonal if you like the whole "starting from 0" idea or competing, though, you can't really compete with botters anyway.

Re: Diablo 3 is live!
New Season coming up by the end of next week (iirc). I'm considering to return to try it out, but I haven't really been playing since like Season 2 or something. Anything super essential that I should read up on? Read the official Season 5 post and been scrolling through /r/diablo3, but not really picking up on anything.
Plan to rebirth my Wizard into a seasonal character.
EDIT: I also noticed that most builds these days are built around specific armour sets and legendary items. Do I just play with whatever build I can mash together up until I luck out and get all the items I need for a build?

Essentially yes. Full set bonus expecially can literally multiply your dps x10, so in the end you play around the set you find, until you get your hands on the *bis of the moment* set.
You really should read about the Cube of Kanaan, very important thing.
