If they are buffing hybrid turrets, then I will be a happy Gallente pilot :D . I've noticed that I start to have eral trouble in my BC with T2 Cruisers and with most BSs, which are fortunately few in Lvl 3s. But right now there are few L3s that challenge my Brutix with 6 250mm Prototype guns (most powerfull T1 Med Hybrid I could find). I've put up barrages of over 800 dmg when in optimal range and not facing resistance (hull dmg), a buff to hybrid turrets should give me more breathing room. My drones have put up 130 individually on hull as well.

Flying my Brutix, I note that even with T2 target computer and T2 painter, I need to get within about 20k to do major dmg to a BC or BS. Cr and smaller ships I can punch from out to about 30k, and so I do run my AB a lot of the time. Fortunately i've so far only encountered a few T2 Cr and BS that like to fight from more than about 20k, and the smaller vessels always come in close where I can blast them with hubrids or drone swarm.

Since I instaleld a T1 cap Rig and a T2 Cap Recharger, I only run low on capacitor if I run my Med-Armor repairer on top of everything else. But with everything running I run out of cap in 2'45". So I sometimes leave the repairer off for a little to preserve my cap.

I can now use some T2 rigs, and will probably put them in when I move into a BS, and wil also try to train up other skills that reduce capacitor draw.

So the whole idea with my cap is that my tank should never be constantly run and pulsed as you need it. I stole it from pretty much all the Raven builds that exist. You can switch the tracking computer for another hardener if needed. The guns have .014 tracking without the tracking computer(I'm not sure if thats good or not, I think it is plenty sufficient). I put drones on which is why the DPS is higher it's only 550 without drones. Cap stable with guns, hardeners and tracking computer. Uh i dunno what else to say XD

Revised to use Railguns Rokh

looks nice, still a bit cap-shy for my tastes, but you're the one flying it.

how long will it take to train to be able to fit that?

I would take out of of the TEs for a power diagnostic system, Comps are better than enhancers in tracking and optimal. PVE rails don't care about falloff much. Also would give more powergrid, as your AB is offline.

But, I'm partially to PDS, as they buff most everything caldari needs.

The Afterburner is online just not running so it takes the PG it needs and such just isn't using cap. PDS' are very interesting PDSII gives quite a bit of cap recharge. If i run two PDSII's i get another full minute out of my tank.

A few days. I'll be able to fly it in a few days(maybe 4 or 5). I won't be able to fly it well by then but i have a little time before the patch hits to train in gunnery a bit.

One invul + SBA is enough.
You get a free invul out of the hull bonus.
(my eft is old)

Gets better with Javelin and faction stuff.
And new eft, especially on cap, pg and cpu.
Tracking still sucks, but oh, well.

Are you doing any L4 runs during this weekend Invis? I'd like to test my latest Raven setup now that I got Drones V out of the way!

I need to try and get in on one of those before my trial runs out. :) Unfortunately, I bought MW3, so that's eating my time, but I'll try. When do you think you'll be running one?

My corp is currently doing a recruitment drive, so if any of you are looking for a corp, check em out. I've had a lot of fun with them.

The Rising Stars Academy

Official empire academy of The Rising Stars.

The Academy operates in highsec and lowsec and is open to all.
We offer freedom of gameplay and have no requirements.
Focused on PvP training but we also do alot of teambased PvE.
Be free to do anything you want and explore all of EVE.
No matter if you're a solo / team player, you'll make friends.
Go ratting, go mining, do exploration, enjoy all you want!

Recruitement:
Based on Invite only! Unknown applications will be rejected.

Those members who successfully pass the Academy and
have proven that they are team players will be
given the chance to become a member of The Rising Stars.

The Rising Stars is a corporation focussed mainly on PvP.
We are specialised in small to medium sized fleet PvP.

There you will learn:

- How to fight against the toughest pvp pilots
- To play with use of professional fleet voice comms
- Get knowledge of your own and your enemy's skills, weapons and ships
- Learn the tactics of small gang warfare to big fleet fights!
- How to survive in the deepest regions of 0.0
- Learn how to maximize your profit and minimize your losses
- Defend your assets in a group of specialized people
- Discover about all the features in 0.0 that will never exist in empire

Meet people from all over the world, teach each other how to get
the most out of this very complicated game, get ready for life and
success in 0.0 to earn more money than you could ever earn in Empire..

- We'll give you the ships
- We'll give you the skills
- We'll give you the modules
- We'll give access to 0.0 regions
- We'll give you fleet fights with experienced FCs

...if only you are willing to defend your friends and stay close!

If you're interested, let me know in game or just type "the rising stars academy" in chat, highlight it and right click -> auto link, then click the link you just made and hit the "apply to join" button at the bottom. Mention my name so they know you're not just a random person.

You guys got a website invis? I've started my search for a corp and I've applied to one, but that seems to be going nowhere. Maybe I'll hit you guys up if that doesn't pan out.

http://igb.the-rising-stars.com/Welcome is the Rising Stars website; it's a little outdated. Forums are in a separate spot. Applications and stuff are all done in-game anyway, tho.

Oh hey, an INTERNET SPACESHIP BATTLE-REPORT?

Image

Ran a few missions tonight with Jhehrrin dual-boxing a command ship and a Noctis.

DPS was high, and missions went quickly. Unfortunately, we took a profit cut - our first couple missions were being run in an incursion (50% bounties). After we realized what was happening, we jumped a few systems over, only to get a couple drone missions in a row (no bounties). However, we still finished out the night with everyone making about 20m each.

Suggested to our corp to do some Incursions fleet, might give it a try at some point, they mentioned having done some incursions in drakes etc.

(this came out of me showing intrest in Incursions and WH's)

Hopefully we might end up running a small fleet through incursions, I know that if we have people in BS we might do it, but at not optimal speed

Being in the same corp I support this statement. The Rising Stars, our main corp, is pretty PvP-focused and Academy's main point is to give new members PvP-training, so if you're interested in that side of EVE, I'd surely recommend you to give TRGSA a shot. PvP in this case doesn't mean straightforward piratism, but we do roam low- and null-sec from time to time shooting any neutral and/or hostile that isn't alert enough to escape and we also do gate-camps near our base of operations.

laterna wrote:Suggested to our corp to do some Incursions fleet, might give it a try at some point

If that does happen, mind telling about it in here or corp forums too? Currently Skyrim is taking most of my play-time and thus I have logged-on pretty much only to update skill-queue, but I'd definitely be interested in Incursions.

Quick couple of questions to help me decide if I want to try out EVE:

1) Do I have to have a trial code/purchase the game prior to being able to download?

1a) If so, does the time it takes me to download count towards my trial time (I have a slow enough connection that it takes me 2-3x the amount of time to download updates for games as it does my friend in the states.)

2) Magnets... er... skill queues: How do they work? More specifically, can I queue up skills for days at a time and it will train them as long as I'm logged in? Or can I only queue a days worth (with higher times at the end of the day to go over), and then have to set my queue again the next day?

3) How long can I idle before getting disconnected (assuming I don't have internet issues?) Is it like FFXI in that I can remain logged in for as long as my internet connection is active or like WoW that disconnects after ~30 min?

1) No, downloading the game does not require your account to be set up or a credit card/payment plan to be active. You can download the game at no cost in money or playtime. You can either set up your own trial account and get 2 free weeks of play, or I can send you a buddy invite and you get 3 free weeks, plus I get a month free if you decide to subscribe (hint: you should do that!).

2) Skill queues have a 24 hour window, and you do not have to be logged in for your skills to train. You drag the skills you want into the queue, up to 24 hours worth. The last skill you drag in will train until completion, so if you drag a skill with a 5 day training time, it will continue training past the 24 hours until it's done. (So you could queue up 23 hours worth of skills, then drop that big skill in at the end, and it would all train without you having to log in.)

3) As far as I know, you don't ever get logged out unless you do it yourself. I've had EVE running in the background when browsing/working in Photoshop/playing Xbox for long periods of time and never gotten logged out by the game.

Awesome, might try setting up the download before I hit the bed tonight. I'll be sure to give a shout when I'm ready for a buddy invite :D.

Is there still a monthly cost or is it F2P after the initial purchase?

There is a monthly subscription cost. You can also buy game time with the in game currency as well. Here's some info about that: https://secure.eveonline.com/PLEX/

Obviously, the in game cost is high, and it's not likely you'd be regularly making enough money to play completely for free for awhile, but it's an option.

Something else to keep in mind, there is no real "initial cost;" it's like, 5 or 10 dollars or something. No buying a retail version + expansions like WoW, just the monthly fee ($15 or ~400 million isk per month).
