To be more specific, it's not actually a time limit, it's an amount limit, which they supposedly calculated using time

a bunch of old ffxi buddies, and current wow buddies are getting back together for ffxiv. I'm hoping to maybe populate a server with as many non-retards as possible. Even if we're not in the same linkshell, it would be nice to have good players hanging around.

We already have quite a few ppl hanging out from tankspot, it seems. Not really recruiting for our shell, but just letting ya'll know about it, and it would be nice to get some good people to hang with if we can manage to communicate well enough to all get on the same server.

I'm pretty sure we are going to make "Emperor" server our home, since that's already our Beta server. Though for Open Beta I think we can switch, then transfer our names to the Client when it comes out.

Yes! I love reading Real Life Comics. Greg goes crazy for some of the games that come out. It's very good.

Hey, I uh... erm. No response to that one.

But seriously, he lives 3 hours away and his house has like a million animals in it. It is sad times, because that man's abusively codependent relationship with FFXI and Ultima Online is always a fun topic. He would make huge contortions of logic to try to defend his pet games instead of saying "You know what, these games do suck, but I think they are satisfying and I am playing them."

Y'know, I've always wondered when people started turning into teapots as opposed to just saying "Drat!" or whatever.

It's pretty fail though.

Why they don't just let us sign up and then email us once its open I dont know.

Better that than having 300,000,000 people spamming their site seeing if its ready yet.

Well, after occasionally checking the site to encounter either the server busy message or the temporarily disabled message, it just worked.

"Your application to the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test has been accepted.
Please read through the e-mail we have sent to your Square Enix account's registered e-mail address. "

So now may be the time if you're still interested.

Just grabbed one. I'll see if I can get it running tonight. Thal, how long does the installer take to get the game running?

>< well..might be a few hours ... i had it partly downloaded for beta 3 then i patched it for open beta. Download it while you are school or work so you don't just wait in anticipation.

Oh make sure you turn off Occulor Oclusion or whatever that setting is called, even the super hard core machines can't handle that and it doesn't give much graphical benefit, but it will make your game chug.

P.S. Best to play with a gamepad or PS3 controller hooked up to your comp. if not use your wsda keys to move and your mouse to move the camera.

Right on, nbd. I'll hook one of my ps3 controllers up and give it a go whenever it gets done. I wanted to get my priest into an iCC tonight anyway, so I'm in no hurry ;)

Holy pictures mel!

Can someone explain how the "classes" work in FF? I've read you can swap between jobs easily enough, it's dependent on what weapon you're wielding, right? What exactly are the different jobs and what, if any, are their analogues in wow?

Shit, guys. What server should I pick? I'm just going to get my first character up and running on Rabanastre, but if there's a big meeting of Maintankadins I'll be glad to make a new character on whatever world. Let me know!

Check out www.thenakamals.com

May not necessarily all be in the same shell, but would like to populate a server with as many good players as possible. We have a fairly sizable group from tankspot on our boards as well.
