Both of them look great! Love the dye jobs.
What armour is that on the Ele? Some random bits?

I love the look of the Norn armor. They went through a lot of trouble to make some elaborate tattoos so I am glad there is armor that allows you to show off that choice. I picked the older, doughy body type. I like the grizzled old warrior archetype.

The ele is Vigil armor for everything except the chest which is Crucible of Eternity. As soon as I get her finished, I'll post some updates.

They're not so bad, and definitely better than nothing! ;) What's that helmet on your Warrior??

Just from the preview bits since she's not high enough level, but bought some mix/match armour for my guardian today!

I just started playing again after putting it down shortly after release.

I was working on the monthly, which meant a bunch of jumping puzzles. They were irritating, but oh so satisfying to see that chest and achievement pop when I finished them. I did a little bit of SAB, which was a blast. And jumped into the new dungeon for Frost and Fire. My first experience in a GW2 dungeon. OH WOW! Crazy! Jumping, and dodging, and spelling. It was a riot, even if I did die a few times. It made me realize how mindless I'd gotten in LFR.

Guardian dinged 80 tonight! Now to figure out how to most effectively gear her up... Ideas? Not exactly loaded in this game, so sheer auction house gearing is out of the question.

Kind of depends on what you want to do with her. Unless you're trying to speed run CoF, no one will really care what your gear is like so pick the playstyle you enjoy and tailor your gear around that. I geared up my warrior with various karma gear from the Orr temples mixing and matching and going for mostly balanced stats. I used that gear to run a lot of AC and made enough money to eventually buy some berserker items.

So I reinstalled the other night. Why did no one mention how fun guardians were? Easily more enjoyable than my Mesmer ever was.

I often hear the same thing when people try out Mesmers for the first time. I like that they've done a fairly decent job at making most classes feel different from each other so you have a somewhat unique experience with each. As much as I love my warrior, he is boring as fuck to play although very effective. My dagger/dagger elementalist on the other hand... great fun.

Guardians were surprisingly fun, I agree! My first was a Necromancer and an Elementalist, which I enjoyed enough, but they weren't quite as ... Hm, easy to enjoy, I suppose.

EDIT: What are your main uses of karma? I'm a little unsure what I should spend it on.

I save all my jugs of liquid karma for alts. Once they reach 80, you can blow a bunch to get them fully geared with Orr stuff. Otherwise, most of my karma just rots or I get bored and buy some of the jewel boxes to crack open (available on any karma vendor in the level 80 Orr zone). I got an endless earth elemental tonic and some cash one session. I believe you can get a mini pet and other elemental tonics as well. There are a few more convoluted ways to convert karma into money but I'm far too lazy to do that and it really isn't a great conversion rate. (I think one method involves buying karma items and dumping them into the mystic toilet)

That's the conclusion I've come to as well; just throw it all on gearing new 80 alts. I just wanted to double check so I didn't blow it all on Orr armour only to find out that "Hey, you can convert 1 karma = 1 gold at this fancy vendor guy over here." and then break my face against my keyboard.

I've never been big on alts in any game. Thinking back on WoW, I had 3 max level characters by the end of Wotlk. When Cataclysm came out, I made a 4th alt (warrior) but only got my DK and Warrior to max level and the rest were left at 80.

For GW2, I have 2 level 80 characters and my other alts are all below level 10.

I've never really been able to ration my time between two games very well. Especially MMO's.

I'm surprised at the amount of people on a Paladin forum that haven't played Guardians/Warriors.

Just started leveling one myself. The issue I always have with all my characters is coming up with a weapon setup I like and a build to go with that, which is why I've hesitated doing Guardian till now.

My first instinct was to go with Guardian, but I wanted to do something different for a change. So I went with Necromancer, which I found quite enjoyable. But really had a good time with Guardian as well.

For my Guardian I used Sword/Focus and Mace/Shield in my weapon slots while levling. Now that I'm 80 I've switched to Greatsword, using a build called "AHEM Guardian", which is supposedly the current favoured PvE build for them.

They are finally doing something with that stupid karka island. About time but holy crap, what an unbalanced pile of shit zone. The enemies are really stupid. It was quite hilarious to watch a single, non veteran reef drake take down 4 people because of its ability to stack a massive confuse, vacuum and knockdown. It feels like I spend more time knocked down/stunned vs those enemies than actually controlling my character and it is awful frustrating. It feels like they are just using cheese abilities to add difficulty rather than interesting mechanics.

I think my issue with the living story stuff is it moves too slowly to keep me interested for long. I'm the kind of person that appreciates large chunks of content being released at once because I can sink my teeth into it for longer periods of time. Anet keeps saying that their focus will be more on the living story stuff rather than an expansion for the near future and I can't say I'm all that happy with that decision. Ah well. I may be in the minority. I can definitely see the appeal of a smaller but more steady flow of content. I just kind of wish there was both. I think the next big thing that will make me play regularly again will be their dungeon finder tool.

I think I would've appreciated something like living story if I was playing a lot every day, like I did with WoW. But with GW I play veeeer sporadically. Usually have a few days in a row where I play quite a bit, then go off the game for weeks. Been playing Diablo 3 again recently. Do we have a Diablo 3 thread somewhere?

Finally finished my armor set for my elementalist. It took a lot less dungeon stuff than I thought it would considering I'm only using two dungeon items. The rest is from the Vigil faction vendor.

Vigil shoulders, gloves and leggings. Sorrow's Embrace boots and Crucible of Eternity chest piece.
