Figured I'd be informational. Hopefully with the 8th class revealed, they'll get beta started under way soon. Haven't had a steady MMO...in a long time lol. Just puttering around on WoW with the 7 free days makes me miss having an online world to go to.

I'm not normally into PVP, but WvW sounds fucking amazing if they manage to pull it off. And yeah I know, necro, GW2's info inflow is very sporadic though which kinda forces this unfortunately.

Re: Guild Wars 2
I really am having a hard time waiting for this game.
They have some lofty plans for their WvWvW pvp but mannnn if they pull it off, it will probably be the best pvp experience on the market. I love all the things that discourage giant zerg balls, such as siege equipment and lots of small objectives that are better dealt with in smaller, faster numbers. I also really like the idea of supply. Got a massive turtle in their base that you can't break? Go out and capture supply points instead and slowly starve them out or build siege weapons. I hope having 3 teams instead of 2 will really balance stuff out. After experiencing the disaster of WoW and TOR's faction imbalance and the problems they create, this will be a pretty awesome change. Want to foster a good community? Make the entire damn server work together, not just a single faction within that server.

Played GW1 for five years before I went to WoW. Definitely looking forward to GW2! Still can't decide on what profession I want to play, though. Guess I'll have to test it a bit during some beta. Used to play an Elementalist for most of my time in GW1, and man, my friends and I came up with the sickest skill builds.

Have to agree, WvW is definitely shaping up to be something amazing. Also really like how they've gotten rid of the faction imbalance issue, both by not having factions and having servers fighting each other, along with ranking the servers, so eventually the servers they'll have fighting each other will be on more equal footing with each other.Gracerath wrote:I really am having a hard time waiting for this game.

Good mama jamma, there's a TON of press beta coverage out there. http://www.guildwars2journal.com/_/news ... ation-r106
Many of them are quite a bit positive, so maybe ArenaNet would consider an open stress test beta sometime soon. Not really so I can play it, but launch date isn't far after this. If the extras are spiffy, I might even buy the CE (which I have for only 1 game previously).
Really looking forward to this game. My favored classes have always been all-around hybrids, and so glad all GW2 classes are that way. That said, I've always wanted to play a shotgun+scutum wielder... & an Ent. Or close to both.

My dad has made it his personal goal to drag me away from my games to play Guild Wars 2 with him and all his friends... if it wasn't for the sheer volume of time & money i've dropped into SWTOR he might have succeeded after hearing about the PvP system.

Yeah, Press Beta Weekend last weekend and Monday they partially lifted the NDA allowing Press to talk about it. A lot of the videos are kind of meh, as apparently press suck at MMOs though. I'd say Yogscast (if you can stand them) and Mike B's BFF Report were some of the better videos/reviews to come out of the Press barrage.
Yogscast:

BFF Report:

Also, Mike B's tours of the cities in GW2 really shows how massive they are:

Ok. These are just.. well. Words cannot describe.
Character creation for Norn and Humans.
Norn - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVOC6wVp4JI
Human - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMzth2plFho
The females are incredibly attractive (but when aren't they?) Some of the hair styles are pretty damned detailed. I'm impressed. I love the Norn male body that looks like he used to be muscled but age and/or time took place and now he's a bit soft. All the tattoo options are rather impressive too.

Already signed up. I have horrible luck with these kinds of things though so I am doubting that I'll get in.
I just signed up as well. Looks like even the public beta testers will be bound by an NDA just like the press beta testers.
My gaming rig is a Win7 laptop, it's the sort of system that beta testing is supposed to weed out (or cater to!). Funny thing is, I don't even care if I do... I just want to know if my PC can keep up at higher settings. I'm thinking I'll test out a Norn female Guardian named Elisamaza lol.

Going with Norn Guardian as well lol. Also stuck with a Win7 laptop, I'm hoping the poorness of my system will squeeze me into beta in seeing how well my system will perform their game...
And sheesh, there is a clear lack of hype here about this game. Suppose everyone is still having fun with their lightsabers and blasters. To each their own.
