Deathwing goes burninating!
This was just recently posted by Zarhym:
One of Azeroth’s oldest adversaries will soon tear through the Elemental Plane to reforge the world in flame, but this foe won’t be conducting his reign of terror from the confines of a castle or lair. Deathwing is a destructive force the likes of which adventurers have yet to see in World of Warcraft, and his appetite for devastation can only be satisfied by the shattering of the world. Following his explosive escape from Deepholm, Deathwing will cast a deadly shadow over the people of Azeroth as he wreaks indiscriminate havoc across the land.
Once free to terrorize the world, Deathwing will randomly choose territories in Azeroth to attack each day until his ruinous reign is brought to an end. A blackened sky will be the only warning before every living creature caught in his approach is consumed by his terrible fire. The unfortunate victims of his malice will receive a rare Feat of Strength... as well as a repair bill and corpse run.
When Deathwing returns, you'd best keep your eyes on the skies.

Apparently this will be going on throughout Cataclysm, until he is killed in whatever patch his raid is released in.

I don't think people will whine much, just a few posts a day from randoms that get really pissed about it happening to them once.

Judging by the blue posts Deathwing will be around from patch 4.0.3 all the way until he's available to raid; or possibly even until someone on your realm first defeats him. It won't be before the world changes.Arjuna wrote:when is the event taking place? The guy in the video has a flying mount in wetlands...is it at the start of cata or?

Yes, this isn't a permanent event, but will last so long as he's free to roam the world.
...strikes me as a very interestingly specific phrasing. I'm wondering if that means he'll be imprisoned at some point. Might account for how they manage to get him into a raid instance for the final battle when he's quite happy flying around free right now.

Is a bit worse... just a tiny bit...
Now you can happily go AFK in your town, just to come back and find yourself and the rest of the whole town burned to cinders.

But at least you'll get a FoS for doing so.

I feel like they should add a new category for this, Feat of Death.

Don't forget the damn Sons of Arugal hanging out in Silverpine! Many of a low level horde toon has died to them and I always make sure to kill them while traveling through the forest with a higher level character.

Re: Deathwing goes burninating!
I'm wondering how frustrating it will be to be engaging some badass mob in an epic battle in the elwyn forest when all of a sudden, the sky goes dark and everything gets charred to shit, except said badass mob and the surrounding enemies.
I mean, if this asshole deathwing is going to be bathing the countryside in fire, it stands to reason that he'll be killing indiscriminately. So if these fire attacks kill everything in its wake, I'm all for it. If "hogger" 2.0 is spared death because deathwing cooked my ass at an inopportune time, I'm going to be a little annoyed.
