Consecutive parries in PTR/Beta
There have been some discussions about how consecutive parries behave with regard to valuating the effectiveness of parry as a stat. This was all before beta, so it was all speculative.
Now that the PTR and Beta should both be running the same parry mechanic, can anyone shed some light on how consecutive parries work?
The first parry cuts that attack and the next by 50%, so does the second of consecutive parries:
A: Defer P1's followon reduction and add one for P2, such that you now reduce the next 2 attacks by 50% each, e.g. (over 4 attacks) P1(50%), P2(50%), Proc1(50%), Proc2(50%).
B: Overwrite the 50% reduction effect form P1, e.g. (over 4 attacks) P1(50%), P2(50%), Proc2(50%), 0%
C: Reduce the 2nd attack by a further 50%, multiplicative, e.g. (over 4 attacks) P1(50%), Proc1(50%) & P2(50%) = 75%, Proc2 (50%), 0%
D: Reduce the 2nd attack by a further 50%, additive, e.g. (over 4 attacks) P1(50%), Proc1(50%) + P2(50%) = 100%, Proc2 (50%), 0%
Hope that was clear enough. I am using "Proc1" to denote the 50% reduction to the next hit caused by Parry1, and likewise for Proc2/Parry2.
In terms of overall reduction over all 4 hits:
A: 50%
B: 37.5%
C: 43.75%
D: 50%
Hope we can get some data on this so we can figure out how good parry is as a mitigation stat.
Percentages listed are reductions, so an attack reduced by 50% that is again reduced by 50% would be reduced a total of 75% from the original attack value.

Blizzard stated they had changed their mind and were no longer planning to implement the new parry mechanic. It will remain an avoidance stat like Dodge.

Yeah, not sure why this is being posted now since they reverted the Parry change months ago...
