SoV, SoR

What's the difference threat wise between SoV and SoR?
What's the +SD coefficient for each of them?
When and why would you choose using one over the other?

You will get a bunch of responses to this, all being contradictory. First of all

spell dmg coeffs
SoR -- roughly 9.2% per weapon speed
JoR -- 72.9%
SoV DoT -- 3.4% per stack per tick (17% per tick on a 5 stack)
SoV direct damage -- 1.1% per weapon speed
JoV -- 42.9%

As far as which is better. SoR scales better in terms of coeff, but SoV starts out better. SoV has a chance to lose a stack (misses, resists, etc.), SoR has a chance not to do damage at all (misses, etc.).

Personally I find the two serve very different jobs. SoR for upfront burst and sustained on fights where SoV cannot be kept up. SoV for sustained on fights were mobility is limited and also for fights that have phase transitions for multiple tanks.

Lots of people will bash SoV, and lots will praise it. I say try them both out for a bit and see what you like. I use SoV comfortably and with 450 unbuffed spell dmg and fully buffed it still provides me higher sustained TPS than SoR, but then I care less about when a stack falls off because I get a threat lead first, and I have found the average stack size matters more than the falloffs themselves.
