I leveled as Protection; my first-ever talent point went into Redoubt.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you're passionate about tanking. You're probably better off getting Improved Blessing of Might and working your way through Retribution until you get Seal of Command; after that switch over to Holy and pick up 5/5 Spiritual Focus.

I levelled with RL friends from release day and tanked until my mid forties. It really depends whether you're going to solo or level with friends.

My personal recommendation is to level holy up till 20, picking up divine strength and improved seal of righteousness, then respeccing retribution at 20 for seal of command, then again respeccing Protection at 40 for Holy Shield. If you feel its worth the 1g respec at 20, otherwise go ret till 40.

Interesting, I never heard of anyone starting Holy first, and then going prot. That might be worth a try.

I'd suggest going prot at about 35 for the AOE grinding capabilities, as that will help you level faster.

IMHO, You want Seal of Command at 20 or shortly thereafter because it works so well with Verigan's Fist/Blood Tempered Ransuer/Warblade of the Sin'dorei.

You can respec around 35 to Prot.
