+40 Spell Damage on a lvl 35 Weapon
I was thinking about putting a +40 spell damage enchant on a lvl 35 sword to get from 30-60. Would this be good enough for leveling and tanking pre-outland, without getting a sword with higher physical damage?

You could also do the AV quest, and pick up a [item=20648]Cold Forged Hammer[/item] for tanking.
While leveling Trypp, I picked up a green mace that had mp5 on it in the Outlands. I've since stopped using the [item=6802]Sword of Omen[/item] (which held me over until I hit OL, btw).

I actualy used this with fiery till fist of stone with spelldmg (main is enchanter so its not a big deal) untill outlands.

Wow. I actually had that basilisk blade before on one of my other toons, but I put it in the auctionhouse. I bet I have a hard time finding one again.

I wouldn't worry about the +40 spell damage.
You will have ZERO problems with threat while levelling.
Zero.
I used to use seal of wisdom and judgement of wisdom instead of righteousness, because I kept threat without Righteousness and it meant I didn't have to drink.

I used lifestealing on my sword of omen. Great for soloing, especially with reckoning, but while tanking midlevel instances, I hardly got any heals and thus, no mana back. I'd suggest lifestealing for soloing and maybe fiery for tanking. I won't bother with spelldamage.

[item=8223]Blade of the Basilisk[/item] with Crusader until I could get [item=17705]Thrash Blade[/item], again with crusader. But that was for soloing. Didn't actually tank much until outland
I tried Lifestealing, but didn't like it a much. Never got that Fist of Stone, though... it looks nice.

ZF, Shar'grath (?) the deflector +20 parry rating is nice as well, working that for the heck of it, then Lifestealing Chant
