What's the deal with forebearance these days?
Can someone tell me what the restrictions are on using lay on hands and divine protection, in relation to each other? I am finding that sometimes I press lay on hands and it does not work. It's not on cool down and the icon is not greyed out. I don't understand it but wonder if it is something like the old forebearance - you cannot use lay on hands if you have recently used divine protection or some such?

Forbearance only affects three spells now: Divine Shield, Hand of Protection, and Lay on Hands when cast on self. It has no interaction with Divine Protection or Avenging Wrath. If you've not used bubble of HoP on yourself in the last 2 minutes, Lay on Hands should work.

Are you sure you're not just on GCD?

It's not a GCD issue, I am pretty sure. It's happening to me quitely regularly in PvP. Does using divine shield prevent lay on hands being used for a certain time?

Should only prevent it on yourself for the duration of forbearance.

Lay on hands causes forebearance only when cast on yourself. This is its only interaction with other spells (i.e. Divine Shield aka bubble and hand of protection). You can cast Lay on Hands on another player with forebearance, however you cannot Lay on Hands on yourself if you used HoP or bubble on yourself in the last 2 minutes.
So basically:
If you use bubble, lay on hands or hand of protection on YOURSELF you cannot cast Lay on Hands or Hand of protection on yourself for 2 minutes.
Lay on Hands ignores Forebearance if cast on another player.
You can cast hand of protection on another player if they have not used Lay on hands, hand of protection or divine shield on themselves in the last 2 minutes, or have not recieved a hand of protection from another paladin within that same time period.
Hand of Protection cannot be cast on any target with the Forebearance debuff.
You can cast Lay on hands on another unit or player immediately after using Divine Shield
I hope this has covered all of the angles and permutations and is more helpful than confusing (it seems logical to me
)

It is still a spell. If you're silenced you can't cast it. A lot of ret/prot pallies can forget that sometimes.

How could we forget? All we can do while silenced is Crusader Strike/HotR...

We're still getting screwed by it with Lay Hands/Bubble. But Ret? The ones that they put it in place for? They can Wings/Bubble no problem now. Sigh.

Yeah funny how all that worked out. Heck, it didn't even make sense to apply it to ret when they changed the bubble to reduce all damage done by 50%.

Don't make me get out that "Here's the Pwny I promised you" cartoon. Nothing ever good comes of it.
