Leveling Build For Prot

Just came back to WoW and plan on leveling a Paladin from 1-85 as Protection. I'm currently level 8 and looking for some advice on what talents to take as the talent points start rolling in. I've never played a Paladin before so I have no idea where to start. Thanks.

The best place to start would be theckhd's talent guide in the talents sub-forum:

It is written mainly with the view to Level 85, but still evaluates each talent in an informative way. You don't have that much choice nowadays, as you must stick to Protection for a long while. Try to get as deep as you can down the tree as fast as you can, prioritising unlocking talents that give you new abilities (hammer of the righteous, shield of the righteous, holy shield, uncrittability from sanctuary).

The only other point I would make is don't neglect eternal glory - it may sound underwhelming, but I have found it a great benefit in both soloing and in instances. Often while levelling you can get in over your head and EG can help you survive - which is what we prot paladins are supposed to excel in anyway.

Leveled 2 Paladins from scratch as Protection and never regretted it.

As for builds, follow any of the end-game builds and adjust to taste.

My current secondary talent spec adjusts for (world) PVP.
