tanking dps

Reading around this forum i notice a lot of tank are running over 4k dps during a toc10 fight.
since i'm only pushing 1.9k dps (and all is fine, we just cleared it, 6969 rotation and stuff bla bla) and i got lot of loot from toc10, is there anything i'm missing?

i'm just concerned i'm autopiloting the tankadin and forgetting something usefull.

Dps goes up alot with gear, but 4k is only on aoe stuff, im doing 2-3k single target depending on the fight, obviously fights like twins will inflate your dmg, same with jaraxxus.

I don't think your missing anything tbh.

Not really, some fights as mentioned above give boosts to damage done, also you're probably looking at people in 25man raids with more buffs availible. I can do up to 2.8k DPS or so on a tank and spank in a 25m.

I think on Twins 25 man, tanking them on top of each other, I managed 4-5k. Anything single target I generally get like 1.8-2.8k. On Kologarn I can push 3.2. That's about it. It's nothing bad.

On twins last week i did 5200 dps when we had them split (so no aoe at all) but I was wearing the greatness deck, belt of colossal rage, and dps neck off 10man yogg. Normally I'm around 2300 dps on single-target with movement, maybe 3k on stuff like Koralon in normal tank gear.

I know everyone's saying the same thing here, but I'm going to agree too. I do from 2k to 3k in most single target situations. What's really fun is to take some undergeared dps through an undead-heavy heroic like CoS and watch them boggle over your 5k tank dps in a 5 man.

Just going to toss this in. If I PUG a heroic it's not uncommon for me to be the first or second in total damage done. Since the tank is there on every fight from the start to the finish and each pack has 3-5 mobs, we can put out some nice damage on groups. Of course, once the other players learn how to play I wouldn't be in quite that situation.
