I have run devo since Wrath, and never even thought of ret again. I think I will check it out for 5's though, now they get run through so fast...

Except that when you're undergeared, you probably want the damage reduction from Devo more than the small amount of threat from Ret Aura.

That your block-value is lower than the hit received.

"X hits Velaegis for 0 (149 blocked)" will not trigger ret / thorns

"X2 hits Velaegis for 8030 (2500 blocked)" will

Ah, I see. I thought you were saying it procced partially, lolz.

However, using Ret when undergeared also seems counter-intuitive, because I would think you need MORE armor if you're undergeared.

So basically, it goes back to my own logic, in that, Devo aura is better, undergeared, on target geared, and overgeared, all regardless, because ret isn't gonna mean jack. lol cool, just use Devo

I usually have 28-29k armor in 10 mans. The only time I switch out of Devo is to pick up frost or fire resist for specific phases or fights where the incoming damage from frost or fire is higher than physical.

I used it for Saph on our first kill, but now I don't because new people want the achievement and you can basically sit in a blizzard without holy shield up and the dragon still does loldamage.

Except you take zero damage, and thus it does no threat.

Ret aura only procs if you take damage.

I'm currently running heroics without a healer, because my combat text looks like:

BLOCK (0)
PARRY
DODGE
BLOCK (0)

Anyway, Devotion aura is about 4-5% damage reduction. Use it.

If you want to boost your threat, there are better ways of doing it than slapping Ret aura on. Keep it for your dailies.

Devotion first, resistance auras situationally.

Yup, my pet priest dual specced to shadow too because she got bored in heroics. While heroics are definetely dull, at least they're fast these days.

If you're taking zero damage, armor doesn't do anything either, technically.

Except you're getting to zero damage taken by boosting armour and block value.

Raids, devo aura unless I need to do a resistance once.

5man it's ret aura*, except when I wasn't well geared I used devo or with a ret pally in group.
5mans I also use the resistance aura per fight, shadow aura first UK boss, frost for 3rd Oculus boss etc. Not so much for me really but others. Kinda a good habit I fell in to.

* I've taken to keeping crusader aura up in 5mans and loling at those who complain.

Only if the armor gained by Devo is enough to push you from out of that range into it. With only 1800 BV, like I have, it's not enough.

I was hoping someone would say this

I follow this same tactic when tanking. (ie the mage boss in Nexus, one pally fire resist, one on cold, or wat ever one is still up at the time) then asap back to devo (mostly due to the facty i am currently 71 and still lvling and SEVERLY undercapped atm ~ 420 def with devo)
