Yeah sounds fine.
A good time to go prot is when you can get 2/2 Spiritual Attunement and Avengers Shield.
A side note though, ALL the gear you get in classic WoW will be replaced within a day or less after entering Outland so as soon as you hit 58, toddle on through the Dark Portal!

Ah cool, I'll check out the talent tree for Protection.

In that case, I won't waste much time getting boosts for Lightforge :P

^_^
One of the major reasons is that TBC items are a lot better itemised than Classic WoW items, the other major reason is that stamina got re-budgeted and you will see a huge increase in your HP within hours.

Hey Guys,

Well, I have successfully ventured into Outland and been tanking every possible dungeon I can. I'm now level 67, my gear is looking good, well I think so anyway, I'm still Retribution spec though, I do alot more damage while questing as Retribution, and I tank fine this way as well, except for one time. On the weekend while running Auchenai Crypts I struggled to keep the agro from a Warlock that was casting AoE. I was running Seal of Vengence and Righteous Fury, I taunted but that would only get one mob on me, I tried running into the group of mobs and casting Concecration and Holy Wrath, this worked for a short while, and the mobs were back on the Warlock. Am I doing something wrong? Is it my talent specialization that's the problem?

Cool beans, I'm going to stick with Retri till I get to 80, I should be fine :)

Just much easier to level with Retri than with Prot.

For tanking trash as Retri i suggest using Seal of Righteousness: Righteousness will proc off Divine Storm and Crusader Strike, while Vengeance doesnt proc.

Thanks man, I definately will be dropping Retri soon, but for now I am aiming on hitting 80 first, it's much easier to level Retri than Prot.

Makes sense, I'll be running Seal of Righteousness from now on instead of Vengeance. :)

Woooohoooo

I hit level 68 and Northrend opened up for me :)

Now I have question though, Utgarde Keep has opened up on LFG, I check out the drops and seems all the drops are for level 80. Can I actually tank this instance at level 68?

That'll be the Heroic drops. Normal mode should be ok at 68, UK is the lowest-level Northrend 5-man.
Be careful when you argue with trolls, lest you become one.

Ah, good to hear! Was wondering why the drops were so high :P

Thanks man, hopefully I'll be running this tonight :)

Gonna be duel speccing for retri and prot though before I run :)

Wait until 70 to tank UK or you'll get ripped a new one.
You'll also be able to equip the green cobalt BoE tanking items.
Run away from dark smash on final boss or pop divine protection for it. Simple:)

Ok awesome :)

I've managed to find three of the items on AH, for around 14g each, which really isn't bad. Will try find a BS to make there rest for me :)

The l70 cobalt tanking pieces are AWESOME. You go from A fair amount of stam and def from questable stuff to being uncrittable with a bloatload of stamina. My DK used them as leveling pieces until he got better DPS pieces, too, they were that much better than my outland gear. Get all the cobalt tanking pieces you can find, it should be plenty. Borean and HF each seem to have some good tanking rewards, too.

That said, tank it at 70 if you can -- it'll be MUCH easier on you and your healers. You'll not be crittable, and you will have probably 20-30% more health, and a fair bit more armor too.
