Using HS when off-tanking/soaking

Postby lusisia » Fri Jun 20, 2008 8:58 am

So I was doing a ZA run last night. Since we were going for a timed run and I've not had a chance to tank a timed run (RL issues - baby on the way), I was OTing with another prot pally.

I obviously found myself going OOM quite a bit (ignore the fact that I got called in at the last minute and didn't have time to pick up enough consumables).

My question is, in cases where I'm OT for either splitting damage or being a soaker of some kind, do I need to keep HS up? I don't think I need to worry about crushing blows so I figure I can just leave that out of the rotation if/when I happen to get threat off the MT.

I know bear boss can't crush for instance so I wasn't as concerned about it there but I was thinking about it on the lynx boss. Crushing blows are only normal melee attacks and not specials correct?

No need to keep HS up.

Perfect. thanks. I never really thought about it before last night.

I use rank 1 HS on lynx when I'm OTing.

Using rank 1 of everything (other than seal) and holding back on your judge rotation can work fine if your target is not currently the raid target. If you're not taking enough damage to keep R1 HS up, you probably don't need it. :)
